I can’t get this article because I don’t subscribe but Luke is the one who I fear losing most. I know it’s inevitable though.
Unless Luke takes the Chris Dailey path and understands that sometimes being a great asst in a program is more valuable and/or preferred than being the #1.

Bill Murray's son Luke? We all know who Luke is. Lol.

Would hate to lose him but that's a pretty big gig for a first time head college basketball coach.
NCSt is an ideal scenario - the herd thinks he deserves what, the Indiana job? Having never been a head coach, Lol.

ACC bar has never been lower, a program with history and brand, they seem to have NIL. Soft landing with support. Lot to like.

That's not the job I think he should take. For his first head coaching gig, he should take a job at a mid major which has advantages in their conference and win for a couple of years. NC State is a middle of the pack job in the ACC.
And NC State fans and administration want to think of themselves as this elite program up there with Duke and UNC, but they are clearly a distant 3rd fiddle to those 2 schools.

Agree. Assuming both VCU and George Mason have openings due to their HCs taking P4 jobs, either would be great places for Luke to land.

Industry scuttlebutt has been that the Wolfpack will be one of the few high-major schools not to go all-in on revenue sharing once it becomes official this summer. If so, that’s a concern about the program’s resources, or at least its willingness to spend them. What makes that even more curious is that, per US Department of Education data from 2022-23 (the most recent year for which data is available), NC State was 18th among public institutions in men’s basketball spending at about $12.6 million. That’s second in the ACC behind only rival North Carolina, with less than a million dollars separating the two. Is NC State willing to pony up like its Tobacco Road peers? Or is it trying to operate on the cheap? The answer to that determines this job’s upside.

I admit to not knowing everything that went into firing Keatts, but damn... dude just went to the FF last year. I think that's like a textbook definition of "fickle".

I've seen rumors of Kimami to VCU, but not Luke.
Id argue an ACC school with NIL is the better land. Historically bad league right now with tons of new coaches coming in, go start somewhere where you’re not seen automatically as a stepping stone school for both players and coaches. NCSt being third fiddle to two blue bloods puts them in same category as about 360 other schools.

He was gonna get fired last year if they didn’t make the crazy run. Saved himself a year, has been bad outside of last year.

You do not want to be a mid major coach in todays world of NIL and transfer portal. Especially when revenue sharing starts next year.

Also depends on how high the expectations were this year.

Anyways, that's an outstanding job for a guy who has no college head coaching experience. A no trainer great job.

Part of being a blue blood and elite program is watching your coaching tree bloom and be successful. Eventually we’ll lose some, but bring in more.
