Liberty counts in so many ways. Period.Liberty doesn’t count. Besides, Marc D’Amelio is a better NIL ambassador than Jerry Falwell.

I think it is a “typical” G 5 schedule for 8 games. Then it is above average for 4. Rare to see a G5 team play 4 P4 teams. Add that we play 3 on the road and it will be a challenge. The positive is we have no Michigan/Clemson/Ohio State type opponent. Some people like us to play those games but I much prefer competitive ones. Getting beat 55-7 with the 3s playing in the 3rd quarter is not beneficial. It would be helpful if at least 1 of Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest or Syracuse had a bad year, too.Incredibly easy schedule.
That's like saying Jefferson has nothing to do with UVa.
Even with the 247 ding, the portal class is currently ranked 70th according to their rankings. UConn slots in at 12th among G5 teams.
Rumors on Storrs Central indicate there are two more players expected to commit as well.
This post at a Minnesota message board shows the top NIL teams in the P4, along with the top G5 teams. Also, for what it's worth, I did mention Boise in the post you quoted if you read the whole thing.Don't compare against CMU. Compare against Boise and Memphis
Here’s a starting point: (I don’t vouch for its accuracy): https://www.on3.com/college/connecticut-huskies/football/2024/industry-comparison-transfers/I've looked on on3's website and can't seem to find UConn football's player valuations. I may just not know where to go.
Respectfully - liberty counts. politics aside, they are doing their "football development" right and are on the way up. you don't need to agree with their values to acknowledge that wins don't lie. Yeah yeah, C-USA, etc. etc. - I know.
Let us not be too proud in our worldview, to refuse good examples of indep/G5 football management when we see it.
bottom line - They are getting G5 anddd P4 wins, keep hiring the right coaches even after guys leave* (uconn take note) , and spending money on their program, to attract NFL caliber players. They are consistently represented in the draft now. That will move the needle for your newest recruit who's also weighing an offer to a mid-tier P4 school (pitt/wake/kansas/WVU).
there is something to be learned about what Liberty is doing (see * above).
It was 19 years ago (2004-05 was their final year; they joined the Big East with USF, Marquette & DePaul for the 2005-06 school year).Weren't Cincinnati and Ville conference USA not that long ago?
If Rico Rico has caught on, how much longer until everybody knows?
This is an impressive haul. No more excuses that UConn isn't taking football seriously, it's time for a winning season.
coaches who can’t evolve…”they’ve got issues”![]()
UConn's Randy Edsall on players in the transfer portal: 'They've got issues'
While Edsall doesn't want transfers from four-year schools, he'll happily take transfers from junior colleges.sports.yahoo.com
This Coach's thoughts on the transfer portal have aged very badly.

Yes. Which no other G5 does. Makes winning more than 8 a huge challenge. We average 4 P4 games a year.
P4 Football is where we aspire to be. Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Syracuse have to play 9 or 10 P4 games a year. I think 4 is the perfect number for us at this time. 6-7 wins next year with one a P4 upset would be good progress.Yes. Which no other G5 does. Makes winning more than 8 a huge challenge.

I've been here WAITING for you...
Disagree on the Sammis hire. Mora is an old experienced hand. He didn’t take this job to fail. It’s may be our last stand, I’m sure it’s his. His hire of Sammis is one of belief, and trust. Yes, a leap of faith too, but he saw what he wants. If that were the case, I'd have expected them to go out and make a big OC hire and have let Charlton go earlier. I don't say that as a criticism or lack of faith in Sammis. I've liked everything he's said so far and seems like a sharp guy and I'm excited to see what the offense does this season, but if this is really the Alamo.. then I think going with a first time OC that for all intents and purposes deserves this opportunity and has earned it isn't necessarily a "get us in a conference now" move.

fair, but there's only so much money. I would venture to say it still gives "alamo" vibes even without the OC hire - perhaps we can't get the splashy OC hire and keep NIL money up. If i were HCJM, do i spend the thin money on another coach? or on some PLAYERS who can actually play at this level? No OC was going to pull off the miracle we need, with recruits who otherwise only got offered by Monmouth, Wagner, and Akron. HCJM essentally said something to this effect in that epic speech about needing more money and stop crying if you're not sending money. So i'll take Sammis + some Dawgs all day - humbly i believe it puts us way closer to keeping up with Big12 / ACC schools, than a skilled position coach wouldIf that were the case, I'd have expected them to go out and make a big OC hire and have let Charlton go earlier.
