Big Ten is overrated

I'm absolutely thrilled at the good wins. I'm mildly enthused by the decent wins. And I like to be aware of which is which to the best of our ability, especially in the early season as that will shape our views on these teams going forward. Having head in the clouds isn't fun for me. You can ignore my posts if they're not fun for you.

No, I usually enjoy your posts. That one just came across as too debbie downer for how spectacular an accomplishment it is.

In other words, get your pom poms and stay 100% positive. Nothing else allowed. Obviously!

Or maybe with Freescooter in hiding, people naturally look for others to argue with? Speaking of, anyone hear from him? He doing ok with all this Newbie success?

Speaking of the Big 10: Maryland losing by 8 to George Mason with 3 minutes left. Lets see if George Mason can close this one out.

This is why the Big 10 probably didn’t want us playing in the Gavitt games. We would have embarrassed whatever pathetic loser program they matched us up with

Looking forward to watching Boilermakers v UNC @ Mohegan this weekend with a potential matchup v Nova on Sunday
Boiler Up!

No mention of Michigan State winning at Butler by 21?

MSU is the only one that didn't look like a deer in headlights. I'd venture to guess it's because they were the only ones who played a high major this year already. They got the "first big game" jitters out already and I think you could tell.

IU also won, of course a thread is made about the B10 being overatted and the next night they sweep the BE.

Way too early to be stating who is overrated and who is next National Champion.
Lots of great hoops ahead of us....enjoy the games!

I suspect you get crucified on this board, but I agree with you. The Gavitt games have been very good. Very competitive. No losers.

Except for Michigan. High expectations. Played like garbage. little to zero fire in the 2nd half. Michigan fans are probably a bit cranky.

There's been alot of big 10 discussion on the Boneyard recently.

The consensus seems to be that they are a horrid basketball conference, and we would very much like to join it.
I'd go to the B1G in a heartbeat. But then they would have 3 National Championships in the past 2 decades to hang their hats on, making them less overrated. Really, they actually need us.

Is there any chance, any chance at all, that the B1G starts thinking about shoring up its basketball product after the undressing it suffered during the Gavitt games? This could be the perfect storm. A revitalized UCONN Basketball team. The women doing what they do. And Jim Mora keeping us in the news. I sense an alignment of the force.

If we left the BE after a season or two we could never say another desperraging word against anyone again. Not Mark Emmert. Not the NCAA. Not UNC, Miami, BC or the BCS. No one. We would be hypocritical mercenaries out for a quick buck. Never to be trusted or taken seriously again.

They don't care about basketball money, but if they did, they would still take Kansas over us. Not because they are a better program, but because the university is AAU which the Big 10 claims to care about

Only because of the relative strength of BE Conf, the rivalries which are super important, and the recruiting advantage in being local, if given the choice for hoops being in the Big East or the Big Ten I would definitely choose the Big East. We’ve seen what happens to once good Big East teams when they leave that local footprint, to wit, Pitt, Cuse, BC, Notre Dame (and UConn during our hiatus)

If we were in the B1G, I'd be perfectly fine with that. I'm down.

What a horrible start of the season by the Big Ten, I also think Michigan St beating Butler says more about Butler more than anything else
