Big East Portal Additions

I am not sure anyone needs to stick it to Cooley. Cooley has been sticking it to himself the last 3 years. I know he has had some injury setbacks, but I am still disappointed with his current stint at Georgetown FWIW.

I am sure Providence fans will like this signing in some way. Maybe tonight I will check out Friar Talk.
Though his departure from Providence was due more to sticking it to someone else...

Yep, they have to add players in the portal because all their best players bail every year. You aren't going to go far without any retention, and they spend their time getting thumped early in the season in the OOC learning to play together. Not quite a recipe for success
PC crushed it, but they may have lost two young players better than they got in Jones & Vaaks. Nova lost a ton. Xavier had no where to go but up. Marquette finally used the portal, good for them.

Gtown, Butler and SH will all be worse. So our middle got better, our bottom will be worse. We need the middle to show up OOC.

Gtown needs to punt Cooley - if he's not winning, he's just obnoxious. The guy lost his entire roster, which was talented.

I am a fan of the Big East, and I think next year will be the best talent the league has had since at least the 23 season, but it was AWFUL last year.
The middle of the league was awful. The very top and bottom were very good compared to the P4.

.-.

I know a few people wanted him here off the bench

Really, I haven't heard his name mentioned with fans since high school. He's been underwhelming at Columbia. If we're going that route with a deep bench guard I would take Christian Jones from Stratford, CT over him.

Is our backup Pg better if in state?

To be fair I don't think it was anybody intelligent, at least that I remember. Mostly just guys who know UConn players or players who were born in Connecticut

Georgetown was the #11 seed in the Big East tournament. Roster construction was poor and its forwards (Isaiah Abraham, Caleb Williams, Jayden Fort, Langston Love, Deshawn Harris-Smith) were a step slow versus other teams.

Not sure I agree - they actually had some pieces I really liked. KJ Lewis was one of the better players in the league. Two really solid bigs. Kid from Worcester was solid. Cooley has officially lost his fastball, and curve ball.

Having seen a good deal of Jones and GW, I think he would be more Kromah than Dan Guess (to look at 2 other GW transfers we got in the modern era). Jones isn’t a starter on a national championship contender team, but he’s good enough to be a rotation player on a second weekend team. He’s not going anywhere to be Koroma or Millander.

I'm pretty intrigued by him as the other combo guard. All I've seen is that he was scheduled to visit St. Louis on April 17th. Does he want to just go to a better A-10 team or would he want to play less minutes than he did at GW at UConn and try and win a chanpionship. Can UConn do better at that position or could UConn do worse at that position?

He's a good player who has two years of eligibility and he's from here.

You guys seem to really give Villanova lots of respect. I know they lost at least 3 starters that are good players. Save me the time. Who have they signed that will replace them. And I am not sold on Willard

They got Kwame Evans 6'9 power forward from Oregon, Devin Royal 6'6 small forward from Ohio State, Jake Feigen 6'4 shooting guard from Cornell, Elijah Crawford 6'2 point guard from the UIC Flames, and Buddy Simmons 5'10 point guard from the Bonnies. #56 ranked 6'5 shooting guard freshman Adam Oummidoch They lost most of their players to transfer and retooled. They kept their best player Tyler Perkins and glue guy/shooter Matt Hodge. Waiting to find out if Duke Brennan center gets another year of eligibility.

Basically they have enough talent to be competitive for an NCAA berth? So we'll find out what kind of coach Willard is.

Lindsey and Brennan were the two best of the departures. Both were good, not great players, more smart and savvy than particularly talented.

Feel like Nova and Willard are going to be Good not Great, assessment is right on with those 2(would love to have either one!!)

I would assume they will bring in a few more players. Assessment is incomplete at the moment

Just saying lol
