After watching St.Johns vs Baylor yesterday I was impressed with coach Pitinos tough and athletic team. The team plays hard and should contend in the Big East. It was a tough loss in double OT but they had consistent scoring from their starters. It was also interesting to see Baylors VJ Edgecombe who had UConn as one of his finalists. Definitely a great catch by Baylor.

Pitino is a scumbag but he's one of the top coaches ever. St. John's may have been our toughest games last year because RP can game plan and execute with the best. Time is not on his side but if he can bring in big talent he will be able to make SJU into a major player.

I remember being legit worried when we drew Iona in 23. They outplayed us in the first half and the legendary "fire DH" thread was born.

Major meltdown and major choking down the stretch to lose the game, so for St Johns fans this game will be (and should be) viewed as a failure and nothing else

But for the AP voters and for the selection committee, it will be a 1 point loss in double OT in a Quad 1 game. Won't hurt them at all. We will have 3 really good games this year between Baylor and SJU
Won't hurt them. But could have helped them tremendously. HUGE missed opportunity.

If St. John’s is as good as their players showed they were last night I don’t know how they get hurt by that loss . They would make the tournament and then it’s seeding. They looked to be top 3 or 4 in the BE but if only 3 bids then maybe.
Who would be surprised if they beat us?

I watched some of St. Johns and Baylor last night and neither team looked all that good. Our offense is much more advanced, our D looks tougher, and it just looks like we play together more.

St. John's is a perfect example of the perils of transfer portal era I think. Early season games don't do justice to their potential. They'll continue to gel and when they do, they should be reeeaaalll good. It helps when they play for a very good coach obviously.

St. John's is really good when they're speeding the other team up and when they're moving the ball on offense. When it's a halfcourt game and it's Kadary dribbling around and driving every time, not so good. That's how Baylor got back in that game and took the lead. Deivon Smith, RJ Luis, Wilcher, and Ejiofor are all good. They shouldn't have been bystanders in the second half. Johnnies never should've lost that game.

Absolutely, and does Pitino want to beat Hurley? Desperately. Regardless of standings that’s his games of the year.
I don’t expect we will allow them to shoot 60% from 3, if we do it’s on us.

Quite a bit of controversy at the end of this one. Rick Pitino has a valid complaint about icing his shooter, but even worse was the clock. The clock didn't start when RJ Luis tipped the ball, and it seems like if it had been run correctly, the gamewinning shot would have been released too late

"I felt, at the end of the game, that was highly unethical to go to the camera on a BS makeup [call] and icing my free-throw shooter," Pitino lamented. "Highly unethical. And the referees should've never let it happen."

I wonder how his players felt when Pitino went to UK and rep his former school?

Yup, looked like the clock didn't start until about 2 seconds went by.

And the refs robbed Baylor of 1-1.5 seconds on the foul call. The refs knew it was intentionally fouling him and didn’t call it right away.

Normally I'm committed enough to watch any BE game all the way through, no matter how ugly. But I just can't keep going with this Seton Hall game. This team would struggle in any mid major league. If I didn't know who they were and someone told me that they were a low major team, I wouldn't be surprised

Isaiah Coleman turned into Steph Curry, which is the only reason they aren't down by 20+. The rest of the team has 16 points on 4-22 at halftime, and it's only 16 because AJ Hoggard fouled Addae Wusu on a 75 foot heave at the buzzer for 3 FTs. They are 5-13 from 3 (Coleman 4-6), and 3-17 on 2s. I have to assume Chaunce Jenkins will start scoring in the second half, but my eyes can't take it anymore

Nebraska is doing a really good job walling up against Kalkbrenner and taking him out of the offense. Working out for them early, up 20-13 after 12 minutes

And now they're going right at Kalk and beating him for layups.

Creighton getting absolutely smoked by Nebraska in Omaha. 28-13 with 4:38 in the 1st half

I’m always wrong so take it with a grain of salt, but I feel like Kalkbrenner drops 20 in the second half and Creighton wins big

McDermott should go full Calhoun and do platoon swaps. There are several players (Pop Isaacs, Jamiya Neal) that are not even trying.

Not sure if this is just a cold night for everyone else or if the scout is out, but literally everybody looks completely useless against this defense

Load up 2-3 guys on Kalkbrenner and dare the other guys to beat you?

Nebraska is a bit over the top with the hand checking. I am a pretty good defender if I can just clutch and grab. Nebraska has foul problems, and those foul problems should be worse. There should be 13 or 14 fouls on Nebraska by now.

Creighton was playing in mud the whole first half. When an offense reverses against the zone, the weak side player has to be ready to shoot when they get the ball. Instead, there is a whole bunch of turning and facing by Creighton's players, letting Nebraska's zone rotate. Worse, a Creighton player will not be ready to shoot or drive when they get the ball, will hold the ball for 2 seconds, and then try to drive into the zone. This kind of stuff would be bad for a middle school team, it is unacceptable for a Top 25 team.

Creighton can come back, but Nebraska has a lot of room for error with an 11 point lead.
