I fully expect that going 0 for Hawaii is going to be completely discounted by the time March madness rolls around.

We are still doomed, though.

Loses to Dayton and Memphis are not bad loses and will look better as the season goes on (though Dayton just killed us that day). Only stinker is Colorado.

2 pt neutral court OT loss Memphis isn't bad. Colorado isn't great, but a one point neutral court loss is not horrible. Dayton was a bad result, but it was with Karaban injured and coming off two losses. If we take care of business otherwise it'll be written off as a about three days.

In the Dayton game Karaban got injured with 2 1/2 minutes left and stayed in until about 30 seconds left. So no effect on the result.

I felt like it was longer than 2 1/2 minutes of game time. I also felt like it was a relatively close game when he got injured and only got out of hand after the injury.

Regardless, I think the bad three days narrative is the way the Maui tournament is going to be viewed as long as we take care of business going forward.

If UConn goes 16-4 in the BE or better and gets to the BET final, UConn's sterling basketball reputation will ensure going 0-3 in paradise will be a mere footnote. Also keep in mind, Dayton defeated #6 Marquette and Dayton has no bad losses (UNC and Iowa State in Maui).

Agree on the 2nd point. If the Huskies take care of business in the Big East, coupled with the last 3 wins prior to today, then Maui won't be remembered much. Could end up being a good thing in the long run since it got them to really focus on their faults and improve.

Sadly, UConn might be dependent on joining the ACC to save them from the current economic trends in college athletics. People are foolin themselves if they think the current UConn conference model is sustainable over the next 5 to 10 years..

We all get that, but enjoy the now. We were told we'd be a dead program when BC and friends went to the ACC. Syracuse, BC, Pitt, VPI, Miami... They were all going to use that ACC money to continue or surpass their prior success, while UConn was going to die. THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO!!

Other than a couple bad years at the end of the KO Era, we've had a much better 20 years than all those programs combined. So, will it end? Maybe. But enjoy it in the now. Enjoy our success, and enjoy the demise of the teams that tried to end us.

It's especially great knowing that the spot in the ACC that was supposed guarantee their financial future looks less solid than ever. We keep winning, they keep losing, and while probably be in the same financial situation within a decade. The only real winner is Rutgers (and West Virginia is in a better spot, but they've mostly sucked for 20 years also).

3 days in Maui in November is more forgivable than your average 3 game losing streak.

His take was a little more nuanced than you give it credit. So far two of the three Maui losses are proven to be "good losses". To wit, both Memphis and Dayton are, or have recently been, ranked. If Duke, to use your example, were to stumble in a weak ACC to losing teams such as Cuse or BC or any other mediocre ACC team for that matter, closer to March, those losses may be more consequential than our Muai losses. And Duke is by no means a "can't lose" type team. They are very young and very raw.

I say Maui is already a footnote. UConn runs a precision offense. And D, for that matter. It's going to take time for such things to come together, especially with the lack of personnel continuity this year. The learning curve has been incredible. If someone asked you about the state of the team today. Would you say it more closely resembles:
A. The Maui UConn
B. The UConn of the past 3 games
C. Some average of the two

To anyone picking anything but B, let's bet.

I don’t think that sounds crazy. They are going to pile up wins in conference Dixon is on a mission. They have enough around him. They are the only one.

Nova has been playing better of late, but those losses to St. Jo 's and especially Columbia really hurt their cause.

Who should JW realistically look at? Probably looking hard at mid major HCs is my guess. Too risky to take an assistant and too cheap to lure away a big name coach.

Seton Hall was 13-7 last year including a win over UConn and I’d argue the conference had a much better overall profile. StJ 11-9.
