quite the data point! love that these two mid-major leagues battled it out 11 times to find out who deserves the crown

UConn, Georgetown, and DePaul won. Providence, Marquette, Seton Hall, Butler, Xavier, and Creighton lost.

81-36 (18-22)

5-2 vs. ACC
5-9 vs. Big 12 (Big 12 won Big12-Big East Battle 6-5)
4-5 vs. SEC
4-6 vs. Big 10

OOC records by school:

Marquette 9-2 (4-1)
St. John's 9-2 (2-2)
UConn 8-3 (2-1)
Xavier 8-3 (2-3)
Creighton 7-4 (2-3)
Butler 7-4 (3-2)
Villanova 7-4 (1-2)
DePaul 7-2 (0-1)
Georgetown 8-2 (1-2)
Providence 6-5 (1-2)
Seton Hall 5-6 (0-3)

Bad losses (current Quad 3 and 4 losses): Villanova, Butler 2x, Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall 3x

Games remaining:

DePaul @ Northwestern (12/21)
Coppin State @ Georgetown (12/28)
Loyola (MD) @ DePaul (12/28)
Delaware @ St. John's (12/28)

Must win all three cupcake games and DePaul beating Northwestern would be a nice cherry on top.
Is it weird that the team I'm most scared of is Seton Hall?

They are BAD. Like among the worst high major teams in America bad. Like the Syracuse/BC tier of bad. So bad that losing to them is probably enough to block most teams from getting an at-large bid

But there are going to be a few games in BE play where the refs let their defenders hold, shove, and hit all game long and then call a foul every time SHU closes their eyes and throws themselves into defenders. It happens every year

Other than our game and Georgetown the rest of the league continued to lose non conference games. The BE looks really weak and likely a 2-3 bid conference. Dayton beating us and Marquette is terrible optics as well.
Wrong, Big East will get minimum 4, put it in the books for UConn, St. John’s, Creighton, and Marquette. ACC and Mountain West got a combined 11 bids last year, this year they may combine for 6 or 7.

Let's not throw salt in the wounds of Syracuse.

You just pray it isn't your team.

That is really the only way I see Seton Hall winning games in the Big East. It ain't going to be because of their offensive skill. Their offense is downright putrid, anemic, and offensive.

They did eke out a win vs. Stonehill yesterday.
Much like Syracuse, I love that BCU is a national punchline in basketball. I take pleasure every four years when they announce a new coach, every time they insist that this is the one. And every time he isn't. Every year for them is like UConn in the Perno years. No hope. Once in a while they luck into a good player, once in awhile they win a game or two they shouldn't. But it never sustains, their trials are desevedly sisyphean. They are a dead program walking. Don't kid yourself, they tried to kill UConn. Both of them did, but they didn't complete the job and now both are stuck in jokesville. They forgot basic geometry, a triangle is stronger than a straight line. But greed and envy forced them into a terrible mistake that they are still paying for.

I swear for some Orange fans it's more important that UCONN lose than it is that Syracuse win. They lose their minds everytime we rack up a Natty.

Sadly, UConn might be dependent on joining the ACC to save them from the current economic trends in college athletics. People are foolin themselves if they think the current UConn conference model is sustainable over the next 5 to 10 years..

It's all they have.

Poor Finger Lakes State

For your reading pleasure:

to be fair we also spend alot of time celebrating their downfall
The difference is their downfall is an actual downfall. Aside from some fluke zone-aided Tournament runs where they probably shouldn't have even gotten a bid, what do they have in the last 20 years?

They've danced on our grave twice and we've responded with 3 championships.

Not remotely equivalent. Every so often we check-in, laugh, then get on with our day. Let me ask you, why would anyone feel the need to be fair with Cuse? They were brutal to UConn when they were flying high and we sucked. And when they were flying high back then, they never got it done. My HS buddy was never much into stick and ball sports but was a great swimmer and got a schollie to Cuse. He told me that UConn was "basically nothing" to the Mighty Cuse. They don't deserve the consideration.

Didn't they at one time think they could poach Hurley if they wanted? I don't think even they are that delusional now.

Although they are talking about Luke.....

You're a day late and a dollar short. ACC had no interest in UConn for a LONG time. There is nothing to indicate they want us now. If they offered us a spot, we would have to take it as long as the conference was still a P4 and we got paid. We would not be BC or Cuse because we are a flagship university, a public ivy, in a wealthy state with a dedicated fan base and a history of winning programs across sports.

I fully expect that going 0 for Hawaii is going to be completely discounted by the time March madness rolls around.

We are still doomed, though.

They probably figure that they have a shot in him because his dad is Canadian.

If a life vest keeps your head above water, you'll gratefully take it and won't really much care where it came from.

It's still better than being in the water with no life vest. Seriously.
