Big East OOC thread '25/'26

I agree from the fan perspective. For example, I was more excited to watch the exhibition against MSU than I was to watch any of our three games that counted so far. Of course, I watched all of them, but it’d be very exciting to have more frequent marquee matchups throughout the year.
Same. You want to see what you look like against teams that matter. This upcoming stretch is the pinnacle of our season other than the tournament. How many BE games are going to be really exciting this year?

I think St. John's will be tougher than any of our upcoming opponents and we'll probably face them three times.

Debateable. Pitino does need time with this group. I think the toughest team we play in this stretch is Zona. Illinois might be second.

When it's all said and done, probably 4 top ten teams. I think we present just as many problems for StJ as they do for us, they will be the regular season highlight of the season once the OOC lapses.

Probably about 6 of them. That’s not to say we couldn’t get an unfortunately exciting game on any given night, but St. John’s, Creighton, Marquette (maybe) each x2 are the only ones that stand out ahead of time, as of today, to me.

Creighton looked very slow against Gonzaga. I think this is a building year for Creighton.

The NFL doesn't have committees seeding playoff teams.
I could never under not rooting for a conference mate OOC .
The more teams in the more money you make . The NCAA pays to the Conference not the team .
Also the better your conference does OOC
Typically helps your can command a higher seed
Last year seeding kept both US.
and Creighton from the round of 16
Each round means $$$
That’s why the AAC was difficult to play in we won the tournament and played the top seeded team in the second round

Wasn't their backup PG Dylan Darling injured?
Yes but my point was lack of point guard play wasn't why they lost. They had no problems on offense and scored a ton, Bama scored even more. They lost because they couldn't contain Bama's guards at all. Nobody played defense that game.

I don't think much at all of this Marquette roster and I have no idea what Shaka is doing. The AD and boosters need to tell him to quit with his no portal thing or they're going to start looking elsewhere. That school spends a tremendous amount of money on basketball and he refuses to get with the times. It also looks like he already has his roster buttoned up for next season. We're way better than Creighton this season but it will always be really difficult winning in Omaha.

You’re probably right about Marquette and my view of them is just holdover from the past few years.

Indiana looks like they've finally found themselves a good coach - Devries looks like he's going to do some good things with that platform.

Georgetown and Marquette win.

25-7 (1-4).

Not feeling good about Georgetown at all, think that game said more about Maryland over anything else.
Cooley zone. At Providence he spent 11 seasons between 40 and 80 in KenPom except for 2 between 25 and 40. I expect him to be firmly in the zone this year. Bubble team.

Cooley and Willard are good coaches. They brought inferior programs (Seton Hall and Providence) with less resources a decent level of success. I think long term both will be bottom-end top 25 programs.

Possibly, but then you have an Indiana, who is nothing but transfers and they ran a team full of continuity. With Creighton, I'm just not sure how impressed I am with their roster and I do thinking finally losing a guy like Kalk exposes them some. They have zero athletes on that team.

I'd lean towards these BE teams being bad. If we were to get 4-5 teams in (which would be suprising since we only got 3 in last year), it would be out of default. The one thing on our side is that the SEC shouldn't have bids in the teens and mid majors really aren't going to be making much noise to get auto bids in today's environment.

Georgetown could surprise as KJ & Mack are a solid core, they have a couple bigs and some solid role players.
I see what ya did there.... solid role players (Abraham).
