This is his second season there, all the learning should have been done last year. There's no excuse to being 0-3 in Big 5 games

Very good day for the BEast. 7-2 overall, 5-2 against high majors. The two low majors were beaten by 83 points.

Xavier and Nova kept their at large hopes in a good place. Butler didn't suicide. Even DePaul won some bragging rights, even if it was "least bad."

I avoided the back door cover loss of taking Marquette laying the points.

A lot to build on today

I don’t understand Xavier. They lost to Delaware and Oakland but hung 84 on Cincinnati and won. I don’t know much about Cincinnati anymore but they were 7-0 and got some top 25 votes this week. Checking their schedule this seems like the first real game they’ve played, although 4-5 Xavier should have been pretty easy for a fringe top 25 team. There go all their votes

Still confused by Butler and Villanova. But 2 Ws. Are these good teams or not?

UConn Creighton and Marquette took care of business

DEPAUL WON!!!!

Not surprised but not disappointed by Seton Hall and GTown. A Georgetown coworker went to that game with her family so would have been nice to be able to laugh at Cuse with her next week. Oh well

Remaining P5 games:

Alabama @ Creighton
St. John's vs. BC (NYC)
Georgetown @ ND
Seton Hall vs. Missouri (KC)
NW @ DePaul

Need to go at least 2-3 the rest of the way to finish above .500 vs. the P5. As long as St. John's and Creighton take care of business we should be set.

Higher profile non-P5 games remaining
UConn vs. Gonzaga (Seattle)
Creighton vs. UNLV (Nevada)

Need to go 2-0 here.

Creighton finally gets tested against UNLV and Bama in the next two weeks. The only team they’ve played so far has been Colorado State and the result was suboptimal.

Man missing on Gavin Griffiths is gonna hurt for a while. He’s a guy
I don't know man. I think he'd be behind both Ball and Stewart putting him 10th on our DC right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he were behind Ross as well.

There have been a few replies to this saying he wouldn’t be in the rotation in this team. It’s worth noting that this class would have been different had he committed. Specifically, I doubt Stewart and Ross would have both committed if Griffiths had come here. That doesn’t mean he is better than them, just that we wouldn’t have taken three wings. He committed before Ball, Ross, and Stewart, and we locked those three up within the next three or four months. He’d likely be in the Stewart/Ross role, a player trying to secure the 9th spot.

We also might not have landed Spencer. Who knows if he transfers, or if we would have pursued him as hard, since Griffiths was billed as a shooter. Griffith isn’t killing it right now - 33% from 3, 50% from 2, 45% from the line - but it’s hard not to root for a CT kid playing for another CT guy. I bet he would have thrived more in our offensive system, though.

This game is bizarre. One team goes on a huge run, the other responds with a huge run and then they repeat the pattern.
