Big East November '25 Thread

100. Lindsey caught fire in the BYU game when BYU looked like they would pull away for the blowout. That game went down to the wire instead. UConn will have to treat him much like they did Brendan Hausen when he played for Nova or like Richie Saunders tonight.
The ability to get to the basket quickly is something Hausen didn’t have.

Lindsay is better than Hausen at getting to the basket, but I wouldn't say it's his strength or the first option for what he does. Hausen is very extreme with his 3 pt shooting attempts where almost 90% of his FGA are from 3 whereas with Lindsay it's about 66% for this year and his career.

I guess it wasn't a rumor after all. Big hit for Creighton.
Wow, that's terrible for them. They aren't going to be good at all without him. It must be why McDermott asked Hudson Greer if he was willing to play this season.

Creighton and Marquette who have been the best Big East teams after UConn are going to be pretty miserable this season. Georgetown has a great opportunity to be the third best team in the league this season and to build some real momentum as a program.

Butler and Georgetown might take their tournament spots.

Butler takes down SECs South Carolina on neutral court. Nice win for Big East.

They looked pretty good on the road at SMU playing 5 on 8. Calhoun or Hurley would have had 4 technicals a piece if they were coaching Butler that night, but Matta just sat there, looking like death warmed over.

Butler beats a South Carolina team they were favored against now they are a tournament team? Previously they lost to SMU. Let’s see how they play against UVA before making predictions.

How do they know if November that he is done for the year? Is this a Freemantle situation where he just has bad feet?
The rumor was lisfranc, which is a bone thing and needs surgery I believe.

Found it weird that they were redshirting their top HS recruit to begin with.

Xavier just isn't very good, and their offense is really bad. They are way too many long pullups and Xavier's ballhandling is terrible.

Georgia isn't that good either, but it is hard to win when Xavier gives away so many possessions with bad shots. Offensive efficiency is decisive in modern basketball, and it is impossible to be efficient when a team takes so many dumb shot attempts.

Edit: This is a pretty good game. Xavier is probably going to come up short, and they can look to at least 10 possessions with terrible shots, especially kamikaze drives into the teeth of the defense, for why they lost.

Purdue blowing out #15 Texas Tech. #23 Wisconsin didn't belong on the same floor with BYU. The portal/NIL/Europe influx has really made for top heavy college hoops seasons. Last year no one belonged on the same court as the four 1 seeds. And the tournament was chalk. This year there's like 10 teams that can reach a different gear, another 10 that are pretty good, and than everyone else. It' why you see so many awful P4 schools losing to mid majors. All the talent is on like 20 teams nationwide.

That was the worst coached last two minutes of a game by Pitino that I can remember. He just pissed that game away.

Fairly accurate. It really couldn’t have been more chalk than last year.

This year the short list of NC candidates is:

Purdue
Illinois
Alabama
Houston
Duke
UConn
Arizona
Louisville
Florida
BYU

Then there is a second group of about 6-8 teams.

STJ
Michigan
Kentucky
Texas Tech
Gonzaga
UNC
Arkansas

If the final 4 didn’t come out of this group I’d be shocked.

I’d just add MSU to the second group
