Big East March ‘26 Thread

I know you are probably being sarcastic in saying PC fans and athletic department would hope to catch another Ed Cooley. The 3 names Jeff Goodman suggested were Jarrod Calhoun (Utah State), Bryan Hodgson (South Florida), or Josh Schertz (St. Louis). However, these coaches are the top of the list and Providence will have a lot of competition for these coaches and might get outbid.

Another name they should consider is Tony Skinn from George Mason as he is doing well at George Mason. However, selling another George Mason coach to the PC fanbase might be tough. Either way, the Providence athletic director, Steve Napolillo, needs to get this hire right or he will lose his job.
Yeah Providence fans think their job is top shelf but the reality is they catch mid-major guys on the way up, and that's best case scenario

It should be a pretty attractive job. Cooley was the highest paid coach in the Big East his final season there and they have very good NIL. The Kim English hire was inexplicable.

I looked up Josh Schertz (50). As a college head coach he only has 3 years at Indiana State and 2 at Saint Louis but he had an impact at both programs. Maybe he waits to see if the Billikens end up in the Big East (ducking) or holds out for another Big East job.

Rick Pitino has 909 college wins, 75 coming at SJU

We'll see how the A10 tourney plays out but Skinn might have lost some shine with how George Mason has finished the season. I like him alot too but they were 18-1 and have closed out the regular season poorly the last few weeks.

One of Hodgson or Schertz is going to revitalize the Syracuse basketball program if they can't get Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan. Or at least that's what I've read.

Let’s not forget the Bryce Hopkins drama at PC basically using their scholarship to rehab and hit the portal.

It was not an easy game. Close for a long time.
No it wasn't

This game just proves everyone somehow plays significantly above their level when they play us. Hall just goes back to not even attempting threes.

They’ve allowed a few open threes, but St. John’s perimeter defense has still been very strong overall.

UConn tends to sag or play off at the three-point line—maybe they’re worried about getting beat (or scouting report).

Budd Clark and Dylan Darling is pest on pest crime.

That loud arse Seton Hall fan sits behind the announcers. He is a season ticket holder-I hear him at every game.

Hopkins plays a lot better after a season under Pitino. He has cut out the most egregious selfish behavior.

Seton Hall just has no inside game at all. Their big guys play hot potato anytime they get position inside which just leaves their guards having to make crazy circus shots. They shot it like an NBA team from 3 against us of course, but their offense is difficult to watch.

The threes they have gotten, they’ve missed tonight. They shot what? Almost 60% vs us? They just look a lot worse overall against the Johnnie’s.
