I mentioned it in an earlier thread, but it’s ironic that St. John’s seems to get the most friendly whistle (along with Creighton) in the Big East and we get the worst. Then I watch these games and Pitino is going absolutely nuts on the refs, has to be at least as bad as Hurley. The difference is I think the refs are genuinely scared of Pitino as he probably has some mobsters ready to go to war with him.

There was a steal by Richmond at the end of regulation in that game where he had the most blatant carry I’ve ever seen in my life and a complete no call. They could have put that play into a textbook about what constitutes a carry. Then in our game against the Hall who is way more physical than we are I watch ticky tack foul after ticky tack foul called on us. On one play in the first half there were 2 clear charges, the first was completely ignored, then the second was called a blocking foul. Then in the 2nd half Mahaney got bowled over (no call) and Samson got called for a ticky tack call on the rebound putback. I’ve watched enough BE ball this year to tell you if the jersies were different every one of those calls likely goes in the opposite direction.

These throwback looking Creighton uniforms are clean, they have very underrated uniforms nationally, the baby blues are a top 5 uniform.

Shaka should have embraced the portal, they didn't need to swing big but 1 or 2 pieces to supplement Kam Jones could have made a big difference, he had way too much on his plate this season. Maybe Shaka thought they were getting Sean Jones back but given when he tore his ACL last season they should have been looking for another ballhandler/shot creator.

For the 4 close games St. John's has lost (which a lot of people like to talk about), they have won about 7-8 by 6 or less, and of those 3-4 by only 1 or 2 points. They could easily have 8 or 9 losses. It goes both ways.

They needed to bring in a Tarris Reed to complement Gold, and instead they went the freshman route. With David Joplin and Ben Gold, you just didn't have enough rebounding and rim protection. Joplin kinda sucks anyways, but he was entrenched and not going anywhere.

How does Butler get called for only 5 fouls in a whole game, Creighton only had 9. Butler also only had 1 turnover. How do you lose playing like that and shooting over 40% from three, lose 'cause opponent makes 16 threes (@ 43%) and shoots 65% from two's.

They've been missing an inside presence for years and they never have enough shooting. It's a shame because Shaka's system works and he's a very good coach. He's always a player or two short.

Other than Arkansas’ win, yesterday was a pretty good day for Xavier. Cincinnati is finished, and SMU is finished unless it makes a very deep run in the ACC tournament. Boise and Utah State have picked up losses this week.

Xavier is 42 in KenPom and 39 in BPI, which are tournament numbers. A loss to Marquette won’t hurt them much. Xavier is not quite in the tournament, but their chances are looking better.

Xavier deserves the 5th BE bid, plain and simple. A win in the 4/5 should make them a lock but it's the BE so who knows...

But it ends at 5 unless Nova wins the BET.

i've said this for years, but I think this is why we surprise people in the tournament. They just don't call like this in NCAA tournament so some of these teams are getting all the accolades right now are going to make earlier than expected departures from the tournament while we keep going.

we may not win this year, but we're going out play whatever seed they give us.

Couldn’t agree more. I feel like they are not that much better than UConn and Marquette. Is there any way we don’t enter the top 25 this week?

I am actually a-okay with this season and like here we are at.
McNeily is my only concern right now.

Take away that strange pre-season tourney and we have 6 losses in USA since October.

2 were hard to explain.

That puts us at 4 straight up losses.

I’ll take it.

We'd have to jump 12 teams to be ranked this week, I wouldn't hold your breath
