fwiw, ESPN has Marquette and UConn as locks for the tourney. StJ would be a lock with a win tonight.

If UConn gives up this many offensive rebounds on Friday the inside the huddle Hurley segments will be too obscene for TV

If you want to see what Ross could look like next year watch Luis Jr. I think St Johns is the better team. Marquette has some issues on offense. They have two plays Jones to the basket or Ross to the basket. Maybe Joplin but he has to be wide open to get his shot off.

We’re gonna need to rebound well on Friday. Could be a big game for Tarris
Yeah we are - StJ with 16 offensive rebounds already to Marquettes 0. They camp out looking for em, Ejifor hunts them. I just have no idea how Samson is going to hold up. Tarris has height and lbs on Ejifor.

Ben Gold is a waste of space. I do like the Parham kid, freshman.

Amazes me to see the foul disparity here when Marquette went to the line twice as many times as UConn in the first half

Playing some hack a StJ and sending to the line could be an effective way to play d against them. 6-17 tonight. 69% on year.

I like this team but no chance they can to deep in March with the inability to shoot.

Wow is this game hard to watch

It’s like football before the forward pass and color tv
Old school Big East grinder at the Garden, love it. No style points going on here, this is back alley sh&t.

PeeCee and Nova both had critical calls go against them.
The clock situation at MSG to start the game hurt PeeCee
Twice. First possession PC was called for shot clock violation but the game clock showed that less than 30 seconds had expired and no one noticed

What's interesting about Xavier's remaining schedule is they've already played all 6 games against Marq/StJ/Uconn and at Creighton. They are well positioned to go on a run. They're just going to have to win some of those pesky games @Nova, @PC. 5-6 with 9 games to go, guessing they are going to have to win 7 minimum.

We need Ross to turn into Luis.

Xavier needs to pummel some of these teams for the computer rankings, and its MO so far this season is that its guards descend into hero ball several times every game, which will keep some of these games close even if Xavier does win.

Marquette traded in giving up an offensive rebound on every possession to fouling instead

Fascinating to see St John’s version of “5 out” to create space for driving lanes. They have 1 top of the key, 2 wings, and then 2 bigs on the elbows. Leaves the paint and circle wide open for drives and dishes.

StJ could be an early exit or they may just be able to overwhelm teams with their pressure and offensive rebounding. Their issue is that they will always lack the kill shot (10+) because they can’t shoot.

I think Marquette is the far greater chance of a R64 exit. They have nothing in the front court. How far can you go with 3 skuttlebutt guards who can’t shoot very well?
