Big East February '26 Thread

Was not my intention to be rude. I just think we as fans underestimate the fact that it’s college kids playing, that’s all
Got it, that’s true, it mostly just frustrates me the lack of any consistency in play.

You are both correct in some way. Inyatkin is correct that each game is different in most cases. I didn't think UConn would lose to Creighton, but I thought it would be a single digit victory for them. However, you are correct after blowing out Creighton 3 weeks and giving them their worst home loss ever, that UConn should not have lost the way they did with Creighton controlling the game and scoring 91 pts. But as we all have observed UConn hasn't been all that sharp in these Big East games with a few exceptions.

.-.
Part of the physicality issue is that we get fouls called on us so much more often than other teams. St. John’s is allow to mug and maul teams in a way nobody else in the big east is allowed to.

Also figured that creighton shot their wade against us anyway no way they were having two games in a row like that.
It turns out that we actually don't get significantly more fouls called on us than does the other team. Someone posted the stats on that: 18.0 vs 18.7

I asked because @FightOnCT thinks it's wild I think St. John's is becoming an elite team. St. John's winning a close game against Marquette somehow eliminates the idea from consideration according to him.
Makes sense now. Missed that.

You don’t think it’s wild calling a team that just barely scraped by Marquette and Xavier elite because their most recent game was a blowout win?

We have not been playing well at all, St. John’s is a matchup I am worried about, they are not an elite team. What’s so hard to understand?

I don't know if St. John's is elite, but they look a hell of a lot better than UConn right now. But things change in college basketball and this can change sooner than we think, but it won't happen until UConn fixes their defense.

Yall are so reactionary, it’s hilarious

Providence up 3 against DePaul with 2:27. It's been a fun game to watch. That Vaaks kid shoots with confidence.

What I posted is the truth and Hurley has admitted as much after the Creighton loss-this team won't go anywhere if their defense doesn't improve and play at a high level consistently. Fortunate for us it improved drastically yesterday, but that has to be maintained.

Your post after a good solid win against Villanova is much more reactionary. St. John's is in first place in the Big East and has been ascending for a while now while UConn's hasn't which is why I stated St. John's is closer to elite, but emphasized "now" in the moment. They just obliterated Creighton while UConn lost to them. If UConn can win against St. John's this Wednesday it will do wonders for them going forward because St. John's style is build to attack UConn's weaknesses.
