Big East Conference Game Thread- February

The kid Hawkins has scored big numbers 31 and 25 in last two games BUT both vs GTown
The only other two times he scored 20 or more this season were vs Iowa State and UConn
Not sure your point. Are you saying he got lucky against us? He a is nightmare matchup for us? Or we just didn’t defend him well the first time around?

I count 6 seniors/super seniors in Hall’s rotation, including Aiken, and no freshman or sophomores. That’s a lot to replace the next couple years. Seems to be a trend in conference very heavy turnover is coming for a lot of these teams. We’re actually in relatively good shape.

Hawkins scored 25 last night against DePaul. Prior to that, he scored 14 and 30 against Georgetown. Earlier in the season, he scored 23 against UConn and 25 each against Iowa State and BYU. If you are talking about verifiable information, and you're not totally sure about it, why not throw in an "if I recall correctly" or "I think"?
Or even better he could just do a quick Google search. Every D1 team has stats on their website. Took me about 15 seconds to find the game by game stats for Hawkins.

Arizona State held him to 6 points on 2-12 shooting. Danny can give his brother a call to see how they defended him.

Butler (13-13, 6-9 BIG EAST) at St. John's (14-11, 6-8 BIG EAST)

Carnesecca Arena; Queens, N.Y.
TV: CBS Sports Network - Tom McCarthy, Pete Gillen & Jon Rothstein

Line: St. John's -8/141.5
8 seems high to me. I’ll be on Butler here these middle of the pack conference games tend to be close.

Well St John’s just destroyed Butler. SJU looks like they are gelling much better as they also blew out Xavier on the road as well.

I don’t know about the rest of you Husky fans, but I think a consistently good SJU team year in and year out is good for the Big East. I might start a separate post about this.

Obviously you didn't look closely at this data, so why post it when you are not sure about it? You are presenting false information with a factual tone that gives a reader no reason to question it. I know Fox News does the same thing to you, but there's no reason to bring the problem to the Boneyard. They are purposely misleading you. I don't think you mean to misinform us.

I did err. Totally My bad. He scored 20 vs 3 (wasn’t even thinking about the game last night) other teams. I just went game by game which I should have done rather than accept statements from announcers from the DePaul game. Get a job had good cause to call me out on it. I am usually pretty thorough but not this time. Measure twice cut once. But Get a Job has no idea what cable news I watch. I watch none, I get my news from sites I trust and he gets his from sites he trust. I am guessing they are polar. Again, no malice towards anyone.

Georgetown at Villanova lol

UCONN currently alone in 3rd place and if Marquette beats Creighton tomorrow, UCONN keeps 3rd.

DePaul is turning into a problem. Could easily ruin senior night if we don’t show up. They had to learn how to play without JFL and now that he’s back they are playing everyone tough.

Seton Hall squeaked by in a must win game. They have four games left; they have to win two to make the field. Luckily they play both Butler and Georgetown at home.

They should beat those teams, but GTown is not laying down even with their awful record. They played Nova tough today. Also, Butler ain’t laying down. When Bo Hodges comes back they should tough. They will be motivated after getting their handed to them St Johns last night

Oh god the announcer crew in the Butler game is awful. That was the "length vs strength" crew we had earlier. PC fans are going to be losing their minds listening to that lol

Freeman-Liberty may have just saved Seton Hall's season.
Yeah, I saw that. DePaul had enough time on the clock and the ball in his hands, just as they wanted- and he got off an uncontested floater! Who knows what would have happened had it gone to overtime? DePaul has had several close losses this season, and their record truly is deceiving.

I bet Providence and Marquette. I guess Durham is out for this Providence game, which is somewhat concerning. I like Horchler's haircut though, so maybe it evens out.

Butler on a 13-0 run against Providence at hinkle. 13-4 timeout Providence.

Wouldn’t mind being the 3 seed in the BET and getting Providence as the 2 on our side

Yeah, for sure. That would be a small silver lining to losing to Nova on Tuesday, as that win would set Nova up to get the #1 seed relatively easily. Best case scenario obviously is we beat Nova and Providence loses a couple games to fall to #2 anyway.

Providence starting to play more like their metrics than their national ranking. Let’s hope Butler buried them by 30

Butler just beats random good teams in Hinkle every year.

Wow what a horse—- performance by Providence. Croswell and Watson are getting sealed by Golden when Butler guards penetrate
