Big East Conference Game Thread- February

LOL GTown cuts it to 9 with 4min left. Creighton got too cutesy and showboaty. Would love to see them have a nice sweat for the rest of the game.

BTW if Creighton hangs on and wins by, say, 4-5 points, do they get credit for being able to “win the close games”?

Crazy that Nova/PC game is on CBS Sports. I guess it's because no one thought Providence would be this good. I saw Andy Katz guess on Twitter it would be the highest rated CBB game in CBS Sports history. Might be the single most important Big East game of the regular season and it's gotta be the biggest PC regular season game in a long time. If they win they can almost cut down the nets afterward for the BE regular season title.

I bet Providence moneyline +150. Providence has been good to me this year. Crowd is gonna be nuts. Nova is banged up. Luck of the Friarish.

Just always remember that a few posters on here with hot takes about PC don't represent the Boneyard as a whole.
Of course, it really wasn’t about a fan base. It’s about stubborn analytical nerds and opposing fans who want something to be true so bad that they are willing to overlook the obvious flaws in their argument. I have enjoyed it honestly. As they say any press is good press and when anyone in the press has gone down the lucky route (understandable) there was inevitable pushback from other media members when PC just kept winning.

I haven’t attended a PC game in Providence in a while but managed to get my butt on a plane from Seattle for the game tonight. It should be crazy. Downtown will be fun as well. Personally I think it’s the biggest regular BE game ever for PC. The Dunk has been incredible this year, mostly because how starved we have been.

That's awesome, good for you! If there was ever a regular season game to fly cross country for, this is it. Hope they win it for ya.

Friars are a solid tough team. You don't win 20+ games without being solid and tough.

They are going to lose a few games but I really hope its not tonight. Nova will get theirs but better for the Big East if the Friars win this one. Creighton or X can nick Provy for a W. I take that back: screw X. Hope the Friars crush X and improve them metrics.

I am just not a fan of Javon Freeman-Liberty. He got smoked on defense for Butler to take the lead 69-67. I won't hold the crazy 3 pointer against JFL because that was pure luck, but if he had played better defense Depaul would be down 1 instead of down 3. Freeman Liberty is not a star, and he thinks he is. Depaul played great without him, and will end up losing to Butler at home.

It is dumb to make a second FT down by 2 or 3 with under 6 seconds left. There is not enough time to foul, have the other team shoot free throws, and get the ball down court to get a shot off. A coach should always direct his player to miss the second FT on purpose in that situation. It is a low percentage play, which is better than a no percentage play.

Let's see whose name Gillen misprounces tonight. He used to say Ali instead of Ollie.

St. John’s getting 8? Seems like a lot of points.

Why do we have to endure Providence Pete!? I was really hoping for an FS1 game and Raff would make the trip to Storrs. Might go without the audio on this one.

Xavier is not a lock for the tournament with losses in 3 of their last 4, including home losses to Depaul and St. Johns. Their remaining schedule is not easy.

St John’s was impressive. I won’t be surprised to see them finish strong with Posh back. Champagnie is the best player in the league.

Will Georgetown win a conference game this year?

The youth Brooklyn travel teams with the Champagnie twins, James Bouknight, and Posh Alexander must have been unbeatable.

I said this when we played them. They’re a mediocre / bubble team. They could easily have 11-12 losses after the BET. As you mentioned they have a tough slate down the stretch with games @ US, @ St Johns and @ Providence and 2 homes games vs Seton Hall and Georgetown. They’re 17-8 right now with a Kenpom of 37 and with only 1 real cupcake down the stretch for them I could easily see them missing the tournament. I doubt they get in on the short side of 20 wins with 11-12 losses.

Pretty interesting game tonight. JFL is back for DePaul, but they were playing well without him. Had a heartbreaking home loss to Butler the other night.

Creighton is somehow tied with UConn for 3rd in the league if they beat DePaul. They have to be the most hot & cold team in the league, but that's what happens when your team is that young I guess.

I like DePaul and I hate Creighton, so I know who I'm rooting for. Huskies could use a little seperation at 3rd place as well.
