Friars/Johnnies is gonna be a barnburner.

St. John's is desperately seeking a signature win to turn around their season and Providence is on a mission to prove they belong.

Get the first aid kits ready.

St. John's -3.5 vs Providence is a bizarre line. Would love to see St. John's win cause it helps us in the standings, but gonna jump on Providence there for sure. Maybe I can root for St. John's to win at the buzzer.

A win tonight for Providence would clinch an NCAA bid for them. Even if they lost out the rest of the way after that, they would finish at worst 19-10.

Generally I root for wins for Big East teams who have a shot at going to the tournament, but I think we have to be St. John fans tonight.

Opened at 2. At 3.5 I would certainly start looking strongly at Providence.

The 6:30 time is killer for me as I’m on kid duty tonight but I cannot wait to listen to Fanta and Raf!

Fanta on the call for UConn / Creighton for Gaudin
Stupid idea: When I was in school I used to give my classmates a ridiculous word to try to work into their responses when the teacher called on them. I think Fanta would be a good sport if we reached out.

.-.
Providence (19-2) has clinched an NCAA tournament berth with their win tonight. If they lost out, they would be 19-10, easily good enough to get in.

Another narrow victory for the Friars, 86-82, but a win is a win...it would be nice to see us get some of those closes ones for a change.

That team seriously doesn’t get rattled at the end of games. They know they are going to win. This one? Perhaps not so much.

They are 8-0 this year in games decided by less than 4 points. We are 1-8 since the beginning of 2020 in those games. That is a HUGE problem. People keep making up excuses for this team and for Hurley. It's year 4, this crap needs to be fixed.

At some point you would think this bites the Friars in the asz. But until it does it's just exciting basketball. They get contributions from so many different guys each night...

Play hard D. Don't make late game turnovers (for the most part.) Hit your FTs.

2/2/22
7 PM- Butler at Xavier
CBSSN: Tom McCarthy, Chris Walker, A.J. Ross
Line: Xavier -12.5/130.5

10 PM- Villanova at Marquette
FS1: Kevin Kugler, Bill Raftery
Line: Villanova -4/132.5

Maybe at this point, someone should send them a thank you note for getting Covid when they did?

Providence has been my sports betting MVP this season. Line last night looked crazy and it wasn't much of a sweat down the stretch.

Gonna bet Marquette +4 tonight, though I don't really want to stay up for a full game starting at 10pm. Hard to imagine Marquette sweeping Nova, but still seems like the play.

Cooley is calm cool and under control during his games - the guy flat out knows how to coach
His team takes on that persona
He will be at a high level P5 program very soon.

We just need to keep our minds off of PC until we can beat Creighton. PC is better than us right now

I hope Nova wins. The last thing this team needs is to play a Nova team that is desperate for a win to stay in contention for the regular season title.

We’re desperate for a win to stay in contention for a regular season title. This team plays up and down to its competition. I have full belief UConn/Nova will be a high level classic big East clash.

That ends with us losing by less than 4 points...again

Or winning(Auburn). This team, this season, has shown it can beat high level teams. Not too long ago we just beat Marquette at Marquette. We’ll be ready to go on Saturday. Wether that results in a win, I can’t tel you. But I don’t think it will be a bad showing

We'll see. I've been the one on here getting crap all year saying that we are a top 10 team. After last night I am starting to lose that faith. They just have some of the lowest bball IQ when the clock hits 2 minutes in a close game. So many little things than need to be fixed and they still are not.

But see that’s a you problem. You have over the top expectations. And are now swinging into the other extreme. Why can’t there be a middle ground. We’re ranked 17th in the country. Why can’t that just actually be wh9 we are? Nova lost by 20 to this same creighton team we’re saying sucks. The boneyard is like a bubble, where no one actually has a pulse of the country outside of storrs. Every team in the country has a loss this season like we had last night. Every single team. We need to relax, and gain some perspective. We knew this game was a trap game. Many expected it to be tough.

We were favored by almost double digits. We should have steamrolled this team, they barely scored 50 points on us and we still managed to lose. Let's see if we can finally win the "big" game this year. Last year we didn't win a single one of them. This year we have Auburn and that's it. If we get swept by Nova, PC, Creighton, and Xavier there will be some major issues that need to be addressed. We have to start being able to beat teams that aren't in the bottom third of the league

Should Nova have steam rolled this team?
