No limits but he threw 9 innings and 119 pitches against Louisville 2 days ago. He could go on three days rest but... more likely relief if needed if at all.
 
Got to figure the following guys tomorrow - Ward, Colletti, Jolin, and Moore are all fresh.

Anyone know who ND is throwing tmrw? Is their ace on 3 days rest as well?

I am not familiar with their pitching staff. Can anyone do a pre-game analysis?

In the post game interview on WHUS, Penders had not made any decisions about who starts tomorrow, saying he wanted to enjoy the moment for another ten minutes or so before making any decisions on that.

#UConnbaseball could start ace Carson cross (8-4, 2.50), who threw 9 inn, 119 pchs wed. or Brian ward (2-3, 3.59). He has lot of experience
 
I think the move is Cross on a short leash, then patch it the rest of the way.
 
Dom Amore is saying Marzi is likely to start today. No doubt it will be him followed by a possible cast of thousands. Everyone will have a very short leash today.

Ward has had a decent season and then dropped off the starting rotation. If it is not an injury then why would he not be getting the start in this game? He certainly has big game experience having pitched a masterpiece in the Clemson regional when they needed a win. Marzi was pulled early so he should be somewhat fresh, but needs to be a lot better.

When was the last time Ward pitched? I think it's been over a month. Even if it isn't an injury, I really doubt Penders is going to have him pitch in such a big game when he hasn't been on the mound in such a long time.

Just checked. Ward pitched the last game of the Notre Dame series on April 28.

Anyway, Marzi's looking good so far and Mazzilli's providing some offense. Good stuff!

Great D play by LJ Mazzilli at second. With man at second, diving snag of a ball and throw out to end inning.
 
Nice comments about JP putting fence up around State for recruiting. Never caught the "CT Player" sticker on helmets before.
 
An 8-1 final. Big East champs. Marzi throws a complete game four hitter on two days rest. That's impressive as hell. Hope his arm is good to go next weekend.
 
UConn wins! The last Big East Championship ever. Fitting.

Finally a Big East tournament title to add to Penders resume. 3 NCAA appearances the last 4 years.
 
Congrats to the team. Champions! How fitting for the school that defined this conference in so many ways.

Nice threesome for starters for the big dance. Cross, Marzi & Tabakman all pitched super games down in Fla. If our hitting continues we could be a very dangerous team within, most likely, a southern regional.
