How does the Texas rep face the BOD of schools your actions have consigned to secondary status.
Boy has the ACCN announcement timed on the eve of this meeting changed the dynamic.
As fascinating as this development is and as much sympathy as I have for the doomed
I don't see UConn's benifit being served by the developments
I am interested in hearing from guys in the know like Fishy and Whaler who assured us repeatedly that an ACCN was never going to happen.
If theirs was an official UConn position ,the fact that UConn failed to know about and exploit the potential seems a bit disturbing .
Unless we're added to the ACC ,it seems a another huge UConn intelligence fail.

It'd be something if on the coat tails of the network the ACC is all like "oh we didn't tell you guys ND is joining as a full member and UConn is 16?"

Hey, if you want this ACCn to have real influence on the NY cable scene, you need UConn. UConn, Syracuse, ND and the Carolina teams would give the ACC the NYC crown vs Rutty/Penn St/etc.

Gah, the story that the ACCN wasn't happening wasn't from Fishy/Whaler/UConn insiders, it's from ACC and national sports media who were in the best position to report on that story. And for several years they were correct that Swofford was working on it but the sides were far apart, and they gradually got closer to where they are now.

What "potential" was or wasn't there for UConn, or what UConn should have done that it didn't do, is the wrong question to ask.

I guarantee the ACCn will be on all of our TVs taunting us regardless.

Since they were my trusted sources, and "No ACCN "was an often repeated mantra stated so forcefully it's understandable to assume the the Powers at UConn should be on top of this development.

What question should I be asking?

It isn't up to us what the ACC does, regardless whether UConn administrators were "on top of this development" or not.

Is it true that this will just be an up or down vote on whether to continue the expansion conversation?

Can they possibly drag this out any more than they already have?

However long the shot is at this point, I hope we get invited to the Big 12. But god, is this conference a bunch of losers.

I really think the reality of the Big 12 is now that OU and UT are gone as soon as they can be. The other 8 want to remain a conference and will continue to receive far more money than the AAC does, and probably will keep the playoff slot. For that to happen, they must add 2 teams now to stay at 10. They may or may not need two more later.

Without UT & OU, the Big 12 has no playoff slot. Sure, it would be a more viable path to the CFP than the AAC but at that point, it is the 5th best conference in the P4.

Brian Davis made a good point, if OU & UT think they are on the way out, why not add 4 and make more money until the GOR lapses?

That $5 Sonic Boom Box is looking good right about now...

Whaler says that is like pissing in your own well. When its time to renew your tv deal, the tv community will remember the raw deal. I don't know if that would stop me, but it might. Four teams: BYU/UConn/Cincy and pickem: USF/UCF

Agree, but Davis' premise is that they are gone for greener pastures anyway, so there is no downside to them. As for the rest of the Big 12 it takes the best available and locks them up to help keep the conf alive as a P5 after Okla. and Texas' departure.

It is scary how much the B12 reminds me of the old BE with Marinatto in charge. These guys are just waiting to die. If the reminding 8 other than OU and Texas don't see writing on the wall, I have no idea what will get them to move. If they stay put, they got zero chance of survival, and it will be every man for himself like the dying days of the old BE. If they expand, they might have a slim shot of staying as a power conference with teams like Cincy, BYU, and UCONN in the fold.

I have no idea what they are waiting for. If they are counting on Texas staying in the B12 forever, they better get that in writing in an iron clad contract. It is not looking too good that Texas will be around. They are and will only look out for themselves.

I've been purposely trying to stay off this board for the last month because I can't handle the idea of us being left out again.

Now I'm listening to hold music waiting to get punched right in the junk in real time.

I hate college sports.

Don't bother. At best nothing's gonna happen. At worst we're about to be in the same conference as UMass and Marshall.

You don't wanna be listening if the latter happens. And there's no point in listening if the former happens.
