I heard Grimaldi has a new store in woodbrige

Tried Grimaldi's this week. Will not pass for second best. First off the pie was not fully cooked. Had to pop it in the oven. But we should start a thread on the best pizza. I think that one would have legs

Yeah travel out of CT get to Maine, New Hampshire or mass where the put an abomination like mayonnaise on it and serve it cold.

I promise you will be underwhelmed with your lobster salad sandwich posing as a lobster roll. It should suit your needs just fine.

In all seriousness, I've wanted to start a "Best Asian restaurants in CT" thread for a few weeks now, but I've been waiting for my new throat-guard to arrive.

I'm ready for that one, I pretty much live in noodle houses, ( York St noodle house coconut curry soup for the win) Thai joints and Indian places. Most of the time I'm eating out is before gigs and Asian stuff doesn't make me too lethargic before playing. Plus I'm a sucker for VERY spicy food, and Asians do that stuff right. Start it up!

Actually their San Tan Village (Gilbert AZ )place is about the Best around here. There has to be a break in period for a new Pizza place. Wait a year and go back.
Their bruschetta pie , if you can get them to make it ,is pretty good.
The management knows We're Connecticut pizza snobs , and will make any pie we ask for.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Spicy Asian (not Indian; for that there's Thali and then all the other standard places). What you got? Best I've had is the Terrace in Hamden, but it ain't cheap. I'm looking for something that comes close to that in terms of heat with flavor; I don't expect to find that level elsewhere because she is really at another level, combining Southern Thai heat and flavors with French training and preparation.

Tried Modern for the first time today. Had the Italian Bomb, it was excellent... maybe half a notch lower than Pepe's, but still excellent. New Haven truly is the pizza capital of the world.

I live in Stamford and think Colony is very overrated. I don't understand it. In Stamford, I would recommend Hope Street Pizza (Greek Style). Best Greek Styple pizza in CT though, is Max Pizza in Bristol. That place is a awesome.

For Greek Pizza, I have not had better than Jordan's in Norwalk. And I really like Town and Country in New Britain as well.

The national media is always several years behind, Pepe's is still good but not what it used to be. Definitely dropped a notch or two in the last 15 years or so. If you want the best pizza in CT, go to Zuppardis in West Haven. Their sausage and mushroom pie is unmatched. I'd rate Modern pizza 2nd, and Roseland Apizza in Derby 3rd.

Town and Country Pizza (New Britain) - OUTSTANDING Greek Style Pizza. The place has been there forver and is particularly well known by the locals. This is really worth a trip for anyone living in Central CT.

I got on a train in New Haven for a meeting in NYC and 20 minutes into my ride got an email that the meeting was postponed until next week. I got off in Stamford, then back to New Haven and decided to change the course of a day with a pizza. I love Pepe's but I've gotten a lot from the West Hartford branch recently and wanted something else. Sally's didn't open til 4 pm so I went to Modern and got a bacon and clam red pie.

I had never been to Modern before but will definitely be back. I'm gonna give it a couple more trial runs before I commit to this statement, but it might have been the best clam pizza I've ever had.

I found this article while reading a UConn article so thought I'd post it. I believe someone mentioned this place as their favorite so here's a good article on the history. 2nd oldest in the state to Pepe's.
