Please excuse this interruption of the Baylor and Stanford players but getting back to Kaleena, you know, the UConn player - her handle has improved a great deal but she's still got some room for growth. Sometimes it's easy to forget that she's just a sophomore. I'm excited to see her continued development.

Did anyone notice after the Pitt game that Kerith Burke interviewed KML to get her comments on having been named Player of the Game? The first words out of KML's mouth were, "I played terribly today" or something to that effect. I love her attitude.

Sorry Card...but I got to go with Griner...having seen our girls play both Baylor and Stanford...Chiney can be guarded and is containable but Griner can't be contained and is darn near impossible to guard.

Stanford limited Griner to 13 pts and 6 rebounds in game earlier this year and 13 pts and 9 boards in F4 game last year. I'd say they contained her pretty well.

the women played head to head and Chiney out played her.

The problem with your argument is you have to take a body of work. Instead of an isolated litmus test of head to head in one game, let's use the litmus test of the same elite player guarding each, oh, say, Dolson for example. By that litmus test Griner is the much better player. Dolson was allowed to guard Ogwumike with normal help defense. UConn provided extra help defense for Griner, which worked in the first half, not in the second. Even with the less help Dolson made Ogwumike look ordinary. Indeed, by that litmus test of how they looked against Dolson there are other players better than Ogwumike in the country as well.

Now, could you counter with a variety of reasons why we should not place too much stock in how Ogwumike performed comparatively against just one player. Absolutely! I'll help you make the argument! But to be as convinced as you seem to be over the superiority of Ogwumike based on one head-to-head match-up is, if anything, even less convincing an argument.

First. I am not convinced of Chiney's superiority of one game, or two for that matter. I've seen her play enough to judge her body of work and skill. I only pointed out the comparison head to head vs Griner (for both O sisters) because Griner to point out that we contained her.

And, Dolson had A LOT of help guarding Chiney and, but the same wasn't true for Chiney. She had no help on O and D in that game.

Chiney stunk it up when UCONN played Stanford. 18 points sure, but 6-22 (27%) in 36 minutes and she was totally contained by a slower Dolson. If Stef isn't 1st team AA over Chiney, there is no justice...

That's pretty much the same argument the cardinal fans are using at the moment.

Chiney is great. Would LOVE it if she came to UCONN. But not in the same league as KML offensively. Not even close. When Chiney gets a 3 point shot, then we can talk.

Anyway, LOVE KML. Love her game, her attitude, her cool as cucumber demeanor, her offense, her defense, and her all around game. She fills up the stat sheet much like Kelly, except with more scoring punch.

KML averaging close to 18 PPG, 2.3 APG, 6.4 RPG, shoots 89% from the FT line, over 50% from beyond the arc, and is just a great all around player. I'm so psyched we have her for 2 more years. She deserves to be a 1st team AA THIS year and can't imagine how great she's going to be the next 2 seasons.

apples and oranges. Can't compare perimeter players to post. Who cares if Chiney doesn't have 3 pt shoot. She doesn't need one a post player. Let's see KML post up and rebound like Chiney. No one is the country rebounds like Chiney. Well, KML doesn't need to because she make the 3 and is a perimeter player. And one game by Dolson doesn't make her AA over Chiney. Dolson is slower, but much bigger. Chiney is really a 4 vs. a 5. We have no help for Chiney in the paint.

I agree, KML is best perimeter player in the game and should be FIRST team AA.

Yeah, it's too bad some of our visitors don't have any manners.. So annoying.

The thread had opinions about who the best player was. I posted my opinion and gave kudos to KML for First team AA. I replied to some posts and questions directed to me vs. ignoring them. Have a good day.

And where does Dolson fit into this group? She beat Chiney like a drum in Stanford this year. That being said, I would definitely have loved to have Chiney playing in Stoors these last four years.

Just got home from the USF game and I have one simple question to ask Geno. Why isn't Kiah Stokes on the court more? She played ten minutes and she played great. Breanna didn't contribute too much. She collected two fouls on bad calls and missed two easy baskets. She sure excites me with some of her plays and then sometimes she is so far off on simple shots it makes me wonder what is going on with her. Bria certainly isn't up to last year's standards and Caroline was in to keep the USF press honest. MoJeff and MoTuck played pretty well. Kelly was... well... Kelly. Stef and KML were out of this world today.

Kelly Faris is Superwoman in disguise!!

I don't see how having and stating an opinion that happens to be different than the majority constitutes not having manners.

Cardfan was not derogatory or dismissive in his/her post (or generally). I think s/he had shown more courtesy than posters who immediately turn to personal insults simply because there is a difference of opinion.

Not to mention that card fan repeatedly agreed with the claim that Kaleena should be guest team AA.

My guess is they are still managing her court time because of the past stress reactions.
You are right, I forgot about that. But she looked good today for the ten minutes or so she played. Quick feet and hands and a nice shot blocker. Hope she can get some time next year.

It's difficult for many of us to think beyond the game in front of us. We forget about the hours the kids put in on the court in practice and in conditioning work, too. I would expect Rose Mary to be establishing goals and limits for the kids as the work back to full health.

You clearly hijacked this thread into a Griner/Chiney argument.

That is rude of a Stanford fan on a UConn board. You don't see that?

In spite of the bone you threw out for UConn fans with your comment about KML, you should consider your words next time.

Before me, Alexrgct and dtbbbtb said Griner is the best player in the country, I countered with my opinion of Chiney (and KML) then a discussion followed. I didn't see Nan's initial post because I was composing a reply to someone else and mine posted after hers. I then ended my last post with have a nice day. I later saw Speedo's comment, which I replied privately to him as if I saw him in a bar. Use your imagination.

Have a nice day again DD.

ROY doesn't prove anything?? Did you not pay attention to what Nneka did this past year? Even Candice Parker said Nneka was the most impressive player she's played with, and she has played with Griner. Nneka out played Griner in the NC game too. The guards won the game for BU, not Griner.

i love that kind of player. it is something sue bird would say.
I am not sure you can coach this kind of drive to succeed and it is what drew me to this team. Even though I live in upstate New York and have never seen a game live, I never miss one on tv.
