I always thought Independence Day was a very well done alien movie. Another alien movie that I like is Signs with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix. That movie is very unique and goes about it in a different way.

Although not generally considered an alien movie, what the heck is the monolith? Who put it there? What was that pulse? And why does every human/ape interaction with the monolith result in a leap forward in evolution? It still makes many top ten movie lists for all movies. It is a true epic.

I honestly don't think I've seen it since 1996, does it hold up? I remember bits and pieces from it though, the boxer that just starts pummeling the aliens, and what ultimately destroys them

I remember I liked that movie when I was a kid. That movie really had some cast...Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Glenn Close, Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman, Annette Bening and even Jim Brown.

I completely forgot about The Thing. The John Carpenter one is one of my all-time favorite movies and the best alien movie ever made, IMO.
