Ben Gordon To Join Huskies of Honor On Feb. 7 vs St.Johns

There are as many great Huskies who can bring an instant smile to my face as there are great places to get (a)pizza in Connecticut. Fighting over who is better or best seems foolish to me.
Just showing there may be something against Ben is all. Cam Spencer was great for us last year. But Ben is Ben and it’s kind of a crazy statement to make when he exists after everything he did.

So is it $100 for an autograph or is it $100 for the jersey + autograph?

.-.
I love that we’re playing St. John’s for his tribute.

Ben Gordon top 3 on my favorite Huskies of all time- the silent assassin- guy was a stud in all ways- always remembered & never forgotten!!

That's more debatable your writing errors. Mind your own business, not Ben Gordon's.

"Hopefully" would require a comma after it, and the "he" that follows, as written, refers to Ben Gordon. How do you presume to know that he has a plan prescribed for himself, that he is sticking to any such plan if he has one, and that he is doing so with a sense of hopefulness? That's all conjecture. Stick to your own progress.

Isn't it your responsibility to take care in writing properly? Or is it Ben Gordon's? Btw, Ben asked me to mention this, even though it's not really my responsibility. I'm doing so in support of his upcoming honor.

I agree with Ben that you could posdibly improve your writing if you were not putting your attention on BG.
It’s posdible?

Isn't that a pastime of fans? We discuss which players and teams were better than others. Even saying Ray and Rip were better is just one man's opinion and given the number of great Huskies we've had, isn't a slight. To be a top 3 Husky is pretty special. I think you're overreacting to normal fan behavior.

I own that it seems foolish to me, especially in advance consideration of a day of highest recognition.

What time is Ben’s wall of honor ceremony? Sorry if it’s already been posted.

“Ben was always the quiet guy, I’d call him ‘the quiet assassin,'” Calhoun said. “You know what I loved about Ben? He knew what he was. He didn’t try to be something he wasn’t. He had a lot of natural instincts of how to play the game, and how to score.”

Saw this in the article also. That should be a good read.

Calhoun has a book, for which I am a co-author, coming out later this year that explores his relationships with many of his former players, including Ben Gordon. They’ve stayed in contact; Calhoun urging him to reconnect and stay connected with his UConn family.

Alternate access:
‘He didn’t talk loud, he played loud.’ Ben Gordon taking his place among UConn greats

Ben is one of the all time greats. If you start him in place of his counterpart on any of the other championships teams we still win. That's the measure of true greatness.

My list
Donyell
Ray
Caron
Rip
Emeka
Gordon
Kemba
Bazz
Boat
Sonogo
Clingan
Newton

Left off
KEA, doesn't win in place of Bazz or Newton.
Castle, doesn't with in Rip's spot as a freshman.
Karaban, doesn't win in 99, 2004 or 2011 replacing Free, Boone/CV, or Lamb.

Great great Husky so happy for him. Love to see him on campus and with JC hopefully others.
Yes. I am particularly glad that he seems to have emerged from mental illness struggles that have been haunting him for many years. That makes this return all the more special. He is as deserving of a Huskies of Honor spot as anybody.

I’ll probably shed a tear tonight thinking of my dad. He loved Ben Gordon and I did too. Before I knew his name I told my dad “I wanna be like #4”. Ben was my first basketball superhero. He’s the reason i fell in love with the Huskies. So happy he’s back. Let’s win the duck**** game for him. Go Huskies!

We have lost every time we induct someone into this thing. Do it vs Eastern Maryland State. Why are we doing it vs St John’s?
So Taliek can “be there”?

Also what ticked me off was that half the arena and the entire student section couldn’t stop talking and making noise during his speech. Embarrassing.

I get they’re young but the guy is a legend. Shut up and let the man speak.

Last night was my first game at Gampel since the pandemic. Ugly loss but it was great seeing Ben, Okafor, Rashad, and Calhoun.

I guess I haven't really kept up with our ring of honor but it's insane that Rudy was in before Ben. Ben was a far more accomplished player in college and a higher draft pick. I found it odd.

They didn't go in order of greatness or accomplishments. It was when the individuals could be available.

Is the ceremony/speech available for viewing? I searched UConn's website and didn't see it there.

Rudy was a first team AA which was the original criteria
