We are not going anywhere this year. 4 and 5 is it? So that's not great, right? I mean, we're not bowling, right?rn

But, as a fan, if you didn't see our kids going nuts on the sideline, in an otherwise meaningless game, then you missed the trees for the forest.

This program is heading in the right direction, and our prospects are very, very good.

For those saying BD is crazy, or out of touch, or prone to impusle (civil conFLiCT), I say, you need to look down the road. He has reached these kids, and his enthusiasm, while idiosyncratic, unconventional, and disconcerting to some, is infectious, and his kids have bought in.

I am very excited for next year. The pieces are in place. I love the fact that Diaco brings passion every minute of every game.

To all those who have, are, or will say negative things about Bob Diaco, I respond with - p-shaw. Blow it out your vent pipe.

Any time of day, any day of the week, any week of the year I'd rather have a crazy guy who can impart passion to his troops than a guy who fits all conventional norms but otherwise will never threaten greatness.

Believe in Bob. This is happening.

I'm not ready to drink the Bob cool aide quite yet but the sidelines were hopping with entheusiasm tonight. It jumped out big time!! I think they are believing in themselves and seemed to be having a lot of fun. All good signs!!

To all of you b-tching every week shut up. Oh wanh lets have tj back. Shut up. We haven't improved. Shut up. Go live your unhappy life elsewhere and find another team

Jalapeno, is that you? Be humble in victory and don't invite people you'd rather not hear from.

More than happy to give credit where it's due this week. Team played well despite a slow start by Bryant. He was off bigtime early on. Same with Vitale - ouch. We got sloppy at times but I liked the emphasis on getting the ball to our playmakers, hitting the TE in the red zone and even trying a little bulldozer situation at fullback. We're not quitting and haven't stopped trying new things. That's a good sign.

Let's go back to that early 3rd down play where we sprung a guy wide open for a 1st down and more. Except the QB threw it too hard, though still catchable. And the receiver let it bounce off his helmet. Is that botch coaching or talent? The play call was perfect. The guy was wide open. But I like how they came back with the same play in the 2nd half for a nice gain.

Easy Lee Harvey. That was the best game they played by far, but one game does not make a trend. I don't think there is a single person who could honestly predict how the team would play this week. There was some noticeable improvements:

LB play vastly better
DB play vastly better
OL noticeably better
Time Management Better
better use of TEs

Need to carry it forward now.

Who is the grad assistant in charge of pumping up the bench by whipping around his towel and flailing his arms? Give him a raise (and a day off from cardio tomorrow).

Very much in agreement. All you can really ask for out of this beaten down dog of a program is a reason for hope, and I think BD has brought that. X's and O's will come in time, when we get better talent and better execution, but what we needed most was a reason to believe, and BD certainly has made a lot of believers out of the kids and the recruits. The guy is a river of optimism and energy, and after the listless PP years this is exactly what was needed. So I'm all in with this guy.

Why is it hard for some to understand that young and talented almost always equals inconsistent.

No need to look for any reason why.

Aside from taking the opportunity to be a smart , it's not hard to understand - some just don't want to.

It's been the season long debate though... when the young and the restless are not consistent it's the coaches fault but when they are consistent it's the talent. If they can all click like they did tonight every game this board would be less miserable most weeks (there are still a few here that have the miserable gene and are terminal)

Before the season began, Bob stated whatever we are this year, we will be much better next year. He didn't know what this team would be this year but was sure next year was the year this team would make a mark. 4 wins was my magic number for the year. They have a real shot at 5 next week. His comments about next year us being much better have been in my head all season.

Best overall game of the season IMHO.
Started off slow on offense but things improved as the game went along, and the offense did things it hadn't done a whole lot this year and that is score points.
The defense came back and played a very solid game and kept the offense off balance all game long.

Happiest I have been after a game this season.

The cupboard is definitely not empty. The team is just inconsistent, which is to be expected when you are rebuilding a program and a coaching staff.

I hope you realize my post was not directed at you.

My bad for not quoting the person it was directed at. I just feel dirty when my keyboard touches some people's letters.

The team looks so much better when the coaching staff is organized. The game plans were not much different that we have seen all year. Conservative offense, big cushion defense. And like most of the season we lost the field position battle.

But when the coaching staff get the plays into the huddle on time. The offense starts to develop a tempo. They look more comfortable and they play better. That really helped the offense last night. That was definitely a step forward for the coaching staff.

Years ago when Charlie Weis was coaching Notre Dame, I had the opportunity to speak with the parent of an ND player. I was told Weis ran his practices and games like an NFL coach - everything was workmanlike and controlled. Weis' coaching was passionless and bloodless and that's how his teams played. I'd rather have an enthusiastic Bob Diaco type on the sideline than an emotionless Weis.

Well stated ;)

Sometimes crazy works.

In the long run that type of coaching did not serve him well.
