Pale lager and English pub ale, both from Marlowe, at New York Craft Coalition today. Delicious and highly crushable.
The best breweries usually are… from the brew house to the bar to the bathrooms. Many learned from Treehouse.Looks very sanitary
I like character more than operating room. The best breweries usually are… from the brew house to the bar to the bathrooms. Many learned from Treehouse.
I like good beer, like the ones in the photos I posted. You can have “character”. It’s a brewery, not a neighborhood bar.I like character more than operating room.
Once a year Tox brews Triple Dart which is unreal. Poltergeist is a Double Dry Hopped Triple and is probably my favorite hazy. Here's a sinfully smooth crackish brew called Double DView attachment 91467art from Tox.
Have to admit I haven’t had a Tox beer in a few years. Solid, but not memorable. Between you and @Dove singing their praises, looks like I need to revisit.Once a year Tox brews Triple Dart which is unreal. Poltergeist is a Double Dry Hopped Triple and is probably my favorite hazy.

I have not been there but just checked out their website. What a wide array of beers on tap. Lots of German influence most likely from his brewing studies in Munich.Anyone been to Caius Farm brewing in Branford? Looks solid on IG
I have not been. I know many people in the craft beer scene in CT who have visited. Universally, I have heard:Anyone been to Caius Farm brewing in Branford? Looks solid on IG
Yeah looked like a great spot to go, glad to hear the beer is serviceableI have not been. I know many people in the craft beer scene in CT who have visited. Universally, I have heard:
- Great vibe and comfortable spot
- Solid, but not spectacular beers, both traditional styles and the few IPAs he brews.
- Dude must have majored in the classics, based on his Instagram posts and the names of his beers.
@Dove could probably provide some color. He just raved about his IPA on Instagram an hour ago.
They're gearing up for their OktoberFest brews.I have not been there but just checked out their website. What a wide array of beers on tap. Lots of German influence most likely from his brewing studies in Munich.
Only one IPA and only one Imperial IPA. They're going to go out of business!
Pittsburgh doesn't have a Treehouse. But it does have a bunch of other places I'd consider far more interesting than some of the others you've mentioned. I'd add Brew Gentlemen to this list to make it an even dozen.I ought to do Pittsburgh but nothing inspires me
I like 2nd Bridge, it's hole in the wall and they are big soccer fans. And Elicit might be worth a stop, it's right near the highway. It's a big beer hall that does their own beer as well as having many guest taps that include plenty of CT beer. They usually have a selection from Great Falls, owned by a Boneyard alum.My map I have pencils on a couple of Manchester CT locations
I was happy to read this. It's a cool little place, I was surprised to see it on your list. They have a tap line at the Yard Goats.Sometimes I pick up random places and they turn out good (Paddle Creek I really liked)
I wanted to stop SOMEWHERE and that seemed to be the most convenient.I was happy to read this. It's a cool little place, I was surprised to see it on your list. They have a tap line at the Yard Goats.
Never heard of them and they're in NY. I mean in theory I should skip CT and go up to SuarezAnd how in hell is Marlowe in Nyack not on your to-do list?
@karstenkibbe turned me onto them - there are multiple posts about them in this thread. "Eager to Share" was my favorite beer of 2022.Never heard of them and they're in NY. I mean in theory I should skip CT and go up to Suarez
I keep a map...

Church was 10 years ago at the Frozen Four. Suarez Family Brewing is in Hudson, NY and is supposed to be highly regarded but also out of the way to the spawning grounds.@karstenkibbe turned me onto them - there are multiple posts about them in this thread. I'm out in Pgh so I'm not all that familiar with everything in CT, although I visit CT once or twice a year and have tried beers from a number of the breweries you mentioned. Marlowe is better than all of them. I don't know what you're referring to vis a vis Suarez. but I'd highly recommend making that beeline over the Tappan Zee (or Cuomo, I guess now).
Also, in Pgh, Church Brew Works is pretty much the worst microbrewery in town. There was a time 20 years ago when it was decent, but it also had almost no competition. I'd take it off your list. OTOH, I have some Helltown "Buffy" in my fridge right now - it's a solid, if unspectacular, non-fruity hazy, and priced reasonably (sixer for $13).
