Baylor looks very tough...very tough!

I'm not so sure Baylor should get a number one seed just for winning the Big 12. Smith is a good ballplayer, one of the best, but I don't consider beating Oklahoma, who today literally stood still and watched Baylor shoot the ball and then didn't blockout a rednecked soul, as impressive as some seem to. And they lost to them twice. Also, although I like Iowa St a lot, beating them is, for me, beating a Top 12 team not a Top 8, as they have been ranked. I haven't watched Texas play as much as the others because I can't stand watching that coach on a pogo stick bouncing around the sidelines. Louisville didn't help themselves, but I'm not sure Baylor is the one to jump them. But then, I use my eyes to make this assessment, not a stat sheet or a schedule.
If Baylor jumps to #4 overall, it's because since 02/28, they would have accumulated wins over NET Top 10 Iowa State and Texas, and slated a win over Top 16 seed Oklahoma.

So if a Louisville loss to Miami trumps (is more important than) a Baylor win against Oklahoma and Iowa St., then losses are more important than wins. I didn't say Louisville shouldn't be jumped I said I'm not sure Baylor is the one to jump them based on who they are beating.
Gotta look at overall bodes of work. Baylor if they win would clearly have the better resume than Louisville. It's not gonna really be debatable. Closer call if they lose to Texas tomorrow.

That's why the last thing I wrote was "But then, I use my eyes to make this assessment, not a stat sheet or a schedule". I just don't happen to think these NET numbers and rankings are all that accurate this year. You do and that's fine. For example, Michigan beat Baylor with Hillmon fouling out. Now, at the end of the season, people are saying Michigan was overrated. Well, they beat Baylor. Then they had to play a time without Brown and are having to get used to her being back all while trying to continue to use Phelia. It's also fair to say Baylor had to get used to a new coach. All of that factors in and I'm just not sure these resumes they talk about take all of that into account. I do think some emphasis should be placed on how a team plays at the end of the season as long as all the factors are looked at. I do see where those rankings can be good to break close calls and the like, I just think too much importance is placed on them. That's just my opinion.

Baylor is a team I would not want to see in the NCAAT until well deep into the tournament. They are on a roll.

remember when in December Baylor had some "bad losses" and people said the Baylor hc couldn't coach? She sure shut ppl up.

I think you are using your heart, not your eyes.
Nope, just my eyes. I did make a typo when I wrote I like Iowa St a lot. Meant to say I like watching them a lot, with all the three point shots they can put up. No likes or dislikes of those teams, just like watching the games.

Thanks for the laugh! Baylor is one of the hottest teams right now along with Kentucky!

Baylor is unbeatable right now……oh……wait.

In all seriousness, this wasn’t an “any given day” kind of game. Texas dominated this one. Vic had a plan, and it was executed brilliantly.
No sane person thought Baylor was unbeatable. Its a good team that was on a roll for a while but Texas is playing very good basketball right now too.

Anyone is capable of being beat, I don't see any team in the country that is unbeatable. Could see a lot of upsets depending on matchups, which we will know very soon.

100% right.

Most of it has to do with player matchups and scheme matchups. Those could make a team look like world-beaters one day, then look feeble the next.....

And Baylor's lack of a bench finally bit em. A three day tournament is really tough on team with 8 scholarship players.

I watched a 2022 Baylor recruit today play in her team's state championship game. She was named Missouri Gatorade POY. Her last name is Fontleroy (sp) and she is good. Unfortunately, her team played Incarnate Word Academy, Napheesa Collier's alma mater, that had won 67 games in a row and four straight State championships. Now it's 68 in a row. They won 67-50 but she had an outstanding game. She should give Baylor help next season.

I was glad to see the Bison get the win in the playin game. They were totally overmatched vs South Carolina; I hope they enjoyed the experience. IIRC they were Div. II within the last decade.

Did you notice todays games on ABC UConn at 1 Tenn to follow. NO other teams. Both are huge draws and CBS got'em. Follow the money.

What does that have to do with this thread? Are you replying to someone specifically, but failed to quote their post?

No, Howard has been in the MEAC for 50 years.

In case others don't see the other thread I posted this... :D
