Yahoo! We got our flights, hotel and UConn Tickets booked!

Best guess on the Brackets?

My wife and I have been booked for awhile. Still waiting to see what the public health situation looks like in the Bahamas come November. Right now the CDC designates the Bahamas as category 4, which means Americans should not travel there under any circumstances. If that is still the case in November don't be surprised if the tournament gets moved to Charleston like last year.

As far as the brackets, my guess is that OR & SC are in one bracket with UConn & USF in another since UConn has scheduled games already with the Ducks and the Gamecocks. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess how the brackets will shake out.

I'm not sure about the full bracket but it's more than likely that UConn will have USF in their bracket. Not just because they are old Big East/AAC rivals but because SC and Oregon have to be in different brackets than UConn because of the contracts to play them both during the season. USF will likely be the highest ranked of the remaining 5 teams so they'll put them in Uconn's bracket to balance the brackets out a little bit. Then you have to figure the next highest seeded teams will be Syracuse and Oklahoma so Uconn will get one of those and the other bracket will get the other. Then Uconn's bracket will probably get one of Buffalo or Minnesota, with SC/Oregon bracket getting the other. Just a semi-educated guess.

Well, it seems to me if you “ranked” the teams 1-8, one bracket should have 1/4/5/8 and the other 2/3/6/7
So group A would be UConn, USF, Oklahoma, Buffalo
group B is SC, Oregon, Minnesota, Syracuse

In the Way Too Early rankings they have UConn (1) SC (2) Oregon (10) and USF (19) so it sounds about right.

We're leaving the Bahamas after a 2-month stay just before November.
Not in Nassau but 45 miles East in a totally non-touristy place called Spanish Wells.
No casinos, no bars, no nightlife; just blue skies and azure waters.

The locals make so much money selling lobsters to the French that they could care less about Yankees invading their Island...of course (sadly) that's slowly changing...quite a few
2nd homes built for rentals and gradually the place is being discovered.

I don't even think that there's a BB court on the Island.

Is that Charleston, SC?

I confused the Paradise Jam, usually played in St Thomas, with the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. Last year, the Battle 4 Atlantis was cancelled.

I know some folks talked about getting an off-site rental and just going for the games.

Just an FYI...

Does anyone know how late the games go on Monday, the 22nd? Is it worth staying until Tuesday?

Assuming the games start each day at noon or so, with 4 games on the same court, the last one wouldn’t be completed until approximately 8 pm. My wife and I are booked through Tuesday morning.

I'm sure a matchup with Minnesota would be interesting for Paige. The coach is Lindsy Whalen, the former Golden Gopher and Lynx player who I would assume was a favorite of Paige in her teenage years. Obviously being from Minnesota would also make for a great story. Preview of her senior "Home" game?

Cruel and unusual punishment for Whalen

It will interesting for Paige and Azzi as my cousin Sara Scalia is a starting guard for Minny and all 3 are friends.

So far Whalen has struggled to turnaround a MN program that was mired at the bottom of the Big10 for many years. The Gophers are not really ready to face UConn just yet. Whalen may have to depend on Geno’s affection for her as a former member of his gold medal USA basketball teams, hoping that he calls off the dogs (Huskies) early in the game.

Well, we all know Genos policy about playing hard throughout the game. I'm sure he also conversed with her while she was a vital member of the Conn Sun. He will take this opportunity though to play his bench, especially the freshmen. Unfortunately for Whalen, our bench players are probably better than her starters. The scariness of playing UConn.

I assume playing Buffalo would also put Amari against her local university. Aaliyah would go up against two of her high school teammates when they play Syracuse.

I believe Syracuse is in the other bracket. UConn’s bracket will include MN, Buffalo & USF.

You could be right, they may want to put Syracuse up against South Carolina: Cardoso matched up against her former coach, and possibly one of her former teammates.

That’s one explanation. Another explanation is that Coach Q wants no part of playing UConn again.

Thank you!!

A little bit of good news. Today the CDC lowered its risk assessment for the Bahamas from Level 4 to Level 3. Hopefully, they’ll get to Level 1 in time for the Tournament.

Does anyone know if the islands of the Bahamas have been given the the vaccine to their residents?
