First off, please list only realistic gets. Don't muck up this thread with ones that we already know have written off UConn or are simply not very high on us and would take a disaster of metioric proportions for them to rethink UConn.

So who do you want per position and in order of priority such as:

PG - ABC recruit as your top choice and XZY as your second choice.
Combo PF-C - ABCD...

Got it?

Seems that many want Robinson as our top 3/4 combon. I'm not sure what PG would be the best fit and get.

Sounds like Kosongo would be an interesting get for the 4-5 combo forward.

We seem set at the 2 with the 2/3 combo Hamilton.
And Purvis should at least be a top tier 2G and maybe able to split time at the 1.
Omar will likely be back for his Junior season. I don't think he's enough athlete to jump befor his junior year, but you never know.
RB seems itching to head to the league. Unless he has a monster season, he should not consider throwing his hat in the NBA ring till after his senior season. Sub-6 footers are ill advised to do so unless you have a Kemba type final season.
DD is poised for a monster junior year. He out-played GU's Porter who went lottery, I believe. If he simply does consistently what he did at the end of last season, he'll be a clear cut upper half first round pick.
We have a lot of unproven bigs (Brimah, Facey, Nolan) so who knows what they'll bring to the table. It seems evident that we need a couple more big bodies, preferably ones that can play right away. Maybe they'll all develop nicely this season and we'll have 3 viable options for teh 4 & 5, but you can never have too many bigs.

I'd say Robinson's the only big time recruit remaining on the board that UConn has a realistic chance with, but who knows, maybe Lyle is blown away on his visit this weekend and we grab pole position with him. I like Sam Cassell a lot, partially because he's already two years removed from high school and is likely a bit more advanced in his skill set than some of the other point guard prospects out there. I know a lot of people here like Bonzie Colson, but I'd prefer Kosongo. Forget about Colson being an undersized power forward - he might be an undersized small forward against most teams we play. I'm just not sure you can be a 6'5 power forward at this level and produce consistently.

While it's far from the norm I do remember a PF named Barkley that did all right at that height.

I want Cassell and Colson. I want to "old man game" teams to death.

Do we have a list of those who are here this weekend?

Robinson, kasongo and a pg. Kasongo is a monster and will be top 50 soon

The exception that proves the rule. Barkley had a meaty 5' wide rear end he successfully used to move players out of the way. I'll take tall and good over shorter and good.

1) Robinson
2) Kosongo

Colson is blah to me. I'd like to see more if that kid Swift we offered a week or so ago. he looks absurdly athletic. could be a great spark plug off the bench if he develops his game beyond highlight reel dunks.

Why is Colson blah? All reports are that he outplayed the competition he went up against.

he isn't athletic at all. He's obvious more polished than his counter parts; he has to be in order to be ranked. I think he's gonna struggle vs big athletic front courts. Unless he turns himself into a sf I don't see much of a ceiling.that being said, I'd welcome him in open arms as a role player

Until recently I did not know we were still on Cassell Jr - I do like his game a lot, like dad can get his shot off anytime and just a nice player with decent size. Would love to see a commitment this weekend........hope dad is with him!! Meeting JC and KO.......maybe Ray is around?!?!? Guessing they have some big names hanging out this weekend.........

Not Chris Weber though sean....lol

Yeah but kids reach their "ceiling" in the NBA, not in college. How many kids do you see every year come into college with athleticism out the ass, and parlay that into an NBA contract, still having no idea how to play? Lots. That's why kids like Colson do well in college. And, frankly, I care about how these kids play when they're wearing the UConn jersey, not 8 years from now.

Have to go with Robinson, Kasongo, and Cassel. Cassel seems to have a nice feel for the game. Kasongo could be the big, strong athletic kid we need to compete on the boards against other big guys. Robinson has a nice smile and seems to enjoy the game, plus he looks to have some big wing skill and athleticism despite being on the skinny side. I would see Colson coming after this group, but he is one of those kids that may end up being the best college player of the bunch (or not).

Robinson seems to be content with going to Indiana and playing behind Vonleh or Hanner Pareah next year.. I like what Ive seen from Kasongo but I wish we had clips of him playing against legit competition.

Do you have a link for that statement? It would be quite a surprise if their center and PF decided to play the wing.

I sorta agree though. I'm not gonna sit here and speculate how he can produce at the D1 level. however it will be an uphill battle for him to compete on the defensive end if he's 1 of 2 bigs playing. Either way beggars can't be choosers, would welcome a commit. Maybe he's chuck hayes

substitute troy williams for hanner

Yes, Williams is formidable, so are the other 2 young 6-6 wings. At UConn, he'll be sharing time at the 3/4 with Facey and Hamilton, with both Facey and Hamilton spending times at the 5 and 2 respectively.

UConn's lineup with Robinson & Cassell

PG Purvis/Cassell
SG Calhoun/Purvis
SF Hamilton or Robinson
F Robinson or Facey
C Facey or Nolan/Brimah

I am not fully convinced Purvis can be effective at running the point based off his year at NC State. I see him more as a 2 and maybe running the 1 of the second unit or if someone is in foul trouble and we have no choice.
