"Mike Woodson has big time NIL money and isn't afraid to use it" - I thought the coaches couldn't control NIL money? Sounds like we've moved immediately over to players being paid by the coaches.
It's always been theater

There's an interesting post from the UConn collective guy Jared on StorrsCentral about how it works. You should subscribe and read it.

Short story: Coaches and the collectives can talk. The coaches know how much they have available for their roster and accordingly the team can suggest to the collectives the market value worths for players on the roster and for those they are recruiting. The school can not order the collective to do anything nor can the coach technically promise anything to recruits. They can do everything but, though.

$93,000 per point / game seems high to me, even for the B1G

Who will replace Donovan
We're getting Reed. He and Samson will likely split minutes to start the season and then we'll see which of the 2 emerges as the better player. Even then, they will likely still play similar minutes in our typical big man tandem that's worked so well for us.

We got our guy, who could ask for anything more?

They can do whatever the hell they want.

I wouldn’t trust anything that Goodman puts out as accurate. The guy is a hack. Maybe he got $1.2 M, but I kind of doubt it. Most schools are dealing with less than $4-5 M for their whole roster, so they’d be dumb to spend that much. I think the bottom may fall out of these NIL once these big donors realize they’re literally just lighting money on fire with no results to show for their efforts

They are just desperate to turn it around. Last elite 8 was 2002 (the runner up season), last s16 was 2016 and haven't gone the distance since 1987, so not in the life time of a decent chunk of the BY.

Can you imagine what NIL money is gonna look like in 5 years?
It’s going to dry up a bit as soon as there’s any sort of economic downturn, this isn’t sustainable.

the deep pocket donors have some serious cash available for their schools. 1-2-3 million is always available. A business they own may suffer, depending on the industry, but their 100’s of millions are sitting in t-bills or equivalent. A school as large as Indiana should have access to quite a few big donors.

UA is down about 27% yoy but I doubt that Phil knight is hurting.

Whatever - he can sell out for the Dough. we ran the Big Ten this year anyways

Phil Knight is 86. I doubt he cares about NIL at this point. Probably setting up philanthropic activities for his legacy.
