B1G 25-26

Just call us butter because Minnesota is on a roll!! Huge in against Ohio State yesterday. Coach P has this team believing and playing hard.
Ooooof. I had expected something even snazzier than this from you. 🤣🤣🤣

Any word from out Iowa peeps on Stuelke injury? I'm playing catch-up and see that Houston started when I looked at last nights box scores.

Just did a quick search and found this article. Wasn't aware she was injured on Monday against Nebraska. Sounds like it's a day to day thing, with the hope she's available for their game against Michigan.

Penn St. about to beat Rutgers, pretty much slamming the door on the Scarlet Knights and confining them to last place in the B1G. It took a while, but I think the worst team has now been identified.

.-.
Iowa put the beatdown on my Wolverines today, 62-44. Jan Jensen is coaching her a** off and has her team playing some great ball. Michigan has two tough games left--versus Ohio State and Maryland--to finish out the regular season. Hope they can pull out a couple of wins.

#18 Michigan State down 2 points to #23 Minnesota 34-36 at the half.

Wisconsin's Pingeton 2 wins shy of 600 for career. Does she get there this year?
Probably not. On a 8 game losing streak and finish against Iowa. But first game of B1G tourney will be a tossup.
Prb finish year at 599.

A victory snatched from my Wolverines in the last couple of seconds in regulation. 74 all and we go to OT.

.-.
Oregon gets victory #20 at Purdue after falling short at Indiana. Last chance to finish 9-9 in regular season league before B1G tourney is at home vs UW. Played both games without injured key scorer Mia Jacobs so both contests were a scoring struggle. Not sure when she will return (knee) but tournament at least I think.

We gotta start talking about Ava Heiden. She's special!
Gotta??? The talk about Heiden started last year.

I would also suggest some talk should be directed Cearah Parchment's way as well. She gave Iowa fits last night on both ends of the court and has been a solid starter in her freshman season. If Davidson wasn't having the season she's been having, Parchment could be a candidate for FOY in the BIG10. She'll definitely make the All-Freshman team in my opinion.

Think you're underselling Parchment. She's been much better than "solid." I would choose her over Davidson for BIG FOY, or perhaps share the award, as Cambridge and Olson did last year. Davidson scores more in BIG play (19.3 to 15.9), but Parchment is the 2nd-leading rebounder (9.5 to 5.9) in BIG play. Parchment's efficiency, and Davidson's inefficiency, results in Parchment faring better (sometimes slightly) in both Value and Advanced Stats. The difference between Parchment's and Davidson's offensive performances is greater than the difference in their defensive performances, though the latter favors Davidson. I would have them both on the 2nd-team All-BIG list.

In fairness, I haven't drilled into the stats as deeply as you have. My assesment has been from what I've watched during the season. Second, I also didn't want to come across as a homer since she's Canadian and I've seen her progression since highschool.

However, now that you've presented the data, then I'm jumping onto the "Parchment for FOY" bandwagon. Personally, I've been really ticked off with the lack of coverage in Canada about her season. When she's having just as an impressive season like Fournier did last year, there has been virtually nothing said in the press or by Canada Basketball. 😒

Slightly OT - but for any B1G fans interested - the Athletic had a piece about B1G finances, including a look at Iowa men's and women's basketball, even if the article was football driven.

Some very interesting stuff - that reflect the overspending that goes on in programs these days.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm assuming it's behind a paywall? As much as I'd like to, I can't justify the subscription amongst the others I currently have.

Very impressed with Parchment. She drained a 3 to end the 1st half and then the Illini made all 8 of their 3 point attempts in the 2nd half to finish with 9 consecutive makes from beyond the arc. A miracle Iowa survived that.

Man, Parchment and Heiden were fun to watch last night.

Probably. I suspect I'm permanently signed in to NY Times and Athletic - interestingly, I don't go and read either one directly, rather I get newsletters ("Pulse", football, basketball, etc.) and I click the links I'm interested in, ditto the actual news ("The Morning" and other newsletters).

FWIW I don't think it is particularly expensive, my albatross is DirecTV which is running $250 a month, which is ridiculous. In terms of newspapers, I subscribe to The Washington Post (same method of reading) and the local paper on-line. The actual delivered paper had also priced itself out of affordability.

I hear you, but these subscriptions can sneak up on you. I also have to factor an exchange rate as I'm Canadian. Sometimes, you don't even realize you're shelling out for these subscriptions. A couple years ago, I found I was spending an extra $300 a month on subscriptions I thought I had cancelled or assumed it was at its initial rate when I signed up. Cutting those off paid for my trip to Jamaica last year. 😁
