We didn't know how to act around here in Minneapolis. The Gophers had 24-32 hours of news coverage ESPN and Fox Sports talking about us, in a positive way! 😂😂Gopher men beat the # 10 Spartans last night. Gopher women face the # 10 Hawkeyes tonight. Good Karma for the Gophers? Hawkeyes seem to be teetering, and the injury to McCabe really hurts Iowa's perimeter defense.
No, seriously. She really does have some type of connection to the cold weather and her programs. She has created a nice, positive, can do vibe with this program. I just love how fans are slowly catching on and coming to the Barn to watch the team.Dawn Plitzuwheit thrives in cold climes.

No Gracie Merkle today for Penn State vs Sparty, yet they take a 17 point lead in the 1st half; ultimately fall 81-70.
Wow. And when you think of their deficit......yikes.😬
I was surprised that Michigan was only half filled for their game against UCLA. I guess attendance is something that can grow over time with winning. Anybody know their ticket pricing? How many seats are saved for students? How active coach is in building attendance?A couple of interesting BIG attendance numbers from Super Bowl Sunday: 6,108 and 15,544. The former from the Michigan-UCLA game, one of the bigger games in Ann Arbor in Michigan WBB history. An unimpressive number. The latter from USC at Illinois in Champaign, a crazy high number. Shauna Green is really driving the WBB interest in Champaign. Not sure what else KBA needs to do attract fans in Ann Arbor.
Some of yesterday's attendance may have been the Super Bowl effect but in the 35+ years I've lived in AA since coming for grad school, I've found that the town/area on the whole isn't super supportive of Michigan wbb. Spartans up the road have better average attendance. When they play here, we get our biggest numbers thanks to the rivalry and to Spartan fans. Count me in that 6,108. I was there.I was surprised that Michigan was only half filled for their game against UCLA. I guess attendance is something that can grow over time with winning. Anybody know their ticket pricing? It sounds to me like Michigan fans are tough to impress and may want to see results. The football team won a title two years ago. The men's basketball team is a dominant force this season (#2 in the polls behind an undefeated Arizona team). The women's basketball team has been good but not great, and that's probably not enough to resonate with that community.A couple of interesting BIG attendance numbers from Super Bowl Sunday: 6,108 and 15,544. The men's basketball team was a hot mess while Juwan Howard a few years ago. During that same time, Coach Barnes-Arico took a Hillmon-led squad to a Sweet 16 and Elite 8 for the first time in their history. Their rivals down the interstate haven't been able to get that far for almost a decade, if not longer. It sounds to me like Michigan fans are tough to impress and may want to see results. A Final Four berth would help, though. Even a B1G title would be something.
Not sure why the interest in Champaign is different, but it is.
We definitely enjoying the moment. Throw in the huge win tonight for the Minnesota WBB program. 7th win in a row!!![]()
Come on, what's wrong with a little stunting after a big win? Minnesota has been due to finally win one of these games this season. Enjoy it!!!!
Like I said earlier in this thread this season, this roster had potential especially with players like Braun healthy. Injury plagued seasons haven't been the bane of existence only to UConn , as some posters may think 😉. Minnesota's had some bad luck the last few seasons, persevered and are peaking at the right possible time.We definitely enjoying the moment. Their freshman of the year from two seasons ago, Natalie Potts, has not played at all this season. She is greatly missed.Minnesota is quietly gaining some momentum down the stretch. Beat up Nebraska tonight, improved to 10-4 in conference. Good for 5th place, but only 1/2 game behind Iowa and 1 1/2 games behind Ohio St. and Michigan.
Nebraska fell to 5-9 and is probably looking at missing the Tourney this year.
Tickets are incredibly reasonable - $10-12, students get in free, and parking is free. There’s no excuse not to go! The program started off with very little investment and success and never has been the crown jewel of WBB in the state, unfortunately. We should have 12,000 today when we host Michigan State.I was surprised that Michigan was only half filled for their game against UCLA. Welcome and great comments. Brenda always does a great job coaching but this season, she is really coaching her you-know-what off!Longtime lurker! First time I bit on an account.
Great comeback win by Maryland today - they've strung some nice wins together over the last few games. I've been impressed with the job that Brenda has done as they've seemingly settled in to dealing with their injuries.
Speaking of injuries, I really hope that both Jones and Woodard are okay for Michigan State. Both looked pretty bad on replay today.
