B1G 25-26

A full weekend of Big Ten conference play is upon us this weekend. I’m excited though this weekend does not feature the biggest matchups. We do have two games that have feature rivals from the old PAC!

Saturday:
Indiana at Illinois
Nebraska at Penn State
Iowa (12) at Rutgers

Sunday;
Purdue at Michigan (6)
tOSU (23) at Northwestern
Oregon (10-0) at UCLA (4)
Maryland (7) at Minnesota
Michigan State (20) at Wisconsin
Washington (20) at U$C (16)

Making my 1st trip to Michigan of the young season. Four-day weekend and might as well catch a flight to Ann Arbor to watch Big Blue against Purdue. I can watch Minnesota anytime.

Iowa still missing their PG plus 3 others due to injuries; Rutgers game not a sure win.

I am not a basketball expert, but I am pretty sure Iowa could beat Rutgers without a PG. If it was legal, Coach Jensen could run the point and get some buckets and help Iowa beat Rutgers. Y'all should be okay against Rutgers today.

Who are the others outside of Wright? She's been out for a while and they seem to be managing okay. If it's Heiden (sic), Stuelke, Fuerbach, etc., then that's a different situation.

Wondering same, I know Wright and top reserve Emely Rodriguez and also Teagan Mallegni.

Illinois beating Indiana at halftime 45-23!
Got even worse after Q3. Indiana outscored them 25-10 in Q4...and still lost by 21. That result is surprising to me.

Nebraska 101-83 over Penn St. I'm sure the Huskers schedule has been weak, but they are 9-0 and unranked. I know some other teams are ranked who haven't played anybody yet (I'm looking at my Huskies).

Chit Chat only played the first quarter.

Saw a post saying she got smacked in the face but I didn't catch that while watching the game. Not ideal if she is recovering from I think was a concussion. Hope she's okay.

Okay, BIG Ten First Sunday is here. Really looking forward to this schedule - especially Oregon at UCLA and Washington at U$C. No true in this lineup like N.C. Central on this lineup (though I will be watching them play at noon . Head bang )

Hope there are a couple of upsets out of these 6 games. Thank you for an enjoyable Sunday Big Ten!)

Thanks to the Boneyard posters that answered questions for me while my internet was out. As JellyBean correctly predicted, Iowa could defeat Rutgers without Chit-Chat and even Jan Jensen. Kind of an unexpected whoopin'; they did play well though. This year's team can play some defense; on offense they assisted on 26 of 32 baskets which is almost unheard of.

Chit-Chat did return although it's questionable that she even practiced. Apparently she got hit/slapped on the head in the 1st quarter and her injury protocol dictated that she come out of the game. Emely Rodriguez is probably a 15-20 minute/game player so her loss is significant. It's also a negative that she's missing practice as this is her 1st year in the program and is still learning the offense and finding her role on the team. Mallegni probably loses us 5-10 game minutes so not as much of a loss, but she needs to play so we can see if she can realize her potential to be a meaningful piece. To be fair, Jada is a deep reserve but one of the most valuable members of 'the circle'.

Wednesday's game at Iowa State will really show where we're at development-wise, and a very valuable test leading up to our December 20th meeting with UConn. Even if we can beat ISU I think our current ranking of 12 is all the higher we probably deserve to be; I think the Cyclones are a little overrated as well.

Smikle now out for the year for Maryland. Injury bug really clouds the Terps outlook. Big Ten looking like a top 2, UCLA and Michigan, with a big group vying for the 2nd tier.

This years promise is turing next season mega team. No Bri McDaniel, no Kaylene Smikle, no promising Lea Bartelme. They'll return Okanawa, Mack and probably Welson. Loaded backcourt and the #7 overall recruit.

Minnesota and Maryland even in the first quarter and halfway through the 2nd quarter. At that point, Minnesota poured it on to grab a 14 point halftime lead. 38–24. Can 7th ranked Maryland come back at home?

Don't look now, but #20 Michigan State trails Wisconsin by 4 going into the 4th quarter. Would be a huge marker win for Wisconsin under Robin Pingeton in her first year in Madison.

Was that here that someone was talking about Michigan St.'s historical numbers on both offense and defense?

I'm not all that smart, but somewhere along the line I figured out to not put too much stock in early season results. Especially when it comes against a weak schedule.

Unless Wisconsin pulls a Minnesota (we call that Couging it around these parts), Michigan St. is going down.
