B1G 25-26

Michigan has a nice "Big 3" developing with the Swords, Holloway, and Olson. They looked sharp against Harvard. A good balanced attack by those three. Last season Holloway was not looking to shoot as much. I mean she had moments but nothing like she is showing so far this season for Michigan and Coach KBA. Looking forward to seeing what happens against Notre Dame in a few days.
Certainly looks like it. All three highly impactful as freshmen but Swords and Olson were a clear level above. If Holloway can consistently play at 75% of how she’s opened the season (19ppg, 5.5a, 4.5s), they’re in the mix to finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference.

Based on the smattering of early games, some I have seen, UCLA is the clear top team with Michigan and Maryland as a distant second/third and then USC, OSU. Mich St, Minn, Wash, Iowa all in a tight race for the top half of the conference.

The only known certainties are Rutgers and Northwestern will at the bottom.

I’d love to know who voted McMiller other than McMiller
My guess with the Penn State and Maryland votes is that they were homer votes. Haven't checked the list of those who attended media day to confirm however.

Dang. Someone returns from injury and then this happens.....fingers crossed it isn't as bad as they fear.
This has been the talk in College Park this weekend. Despite being a freshman, she was a high quality PG with professional experience.

Iowa beats Baylor 57-52

What's the buzz on Chit Chat Wright? I saw they ruled her out for Saturday which I expected but they didn't say much more that I heard. I hate seeing players get concussions which I am assuming this was.

Believe it's concussion protocol. Ruling her out for Saturday is a smart thing versus taking any chances even if it was mild and she's not showing any symptoms.

Getting the feeling that BIG10 conference play is going to be hella interesting this year. Gonna be fun to sit back and watch what happens this season.

FYI regarding Wright and her injury status. Ugh, feel for her as moving around with a sore neck is bad enough.

Very impressive win by the Terps! I wasn’t sure what to think of this game but Brenda did a nice job basically playing a small lineup, heck Mir played 25 min!
I still think they are 3rd in the Big 10 behind UCLA and Michigan with my hope Michigan beating UCLA and making our win all the more valuable. 😎

Nice game by Maryland. For me, it is always tough reading too much into these types of games unless Kentucky, depending on the ranking system you follow, ranked 16th beats Maryland (7th). I think Maryland a `10-12 to nothing run on Kentucky and clearly Maryland looked like a top ten team out there. But this was a nice game and challenge for both teams. A good measure for both teams. The Big Ten is always fun to watch and UCLA, if they aren't on their A game, will have some serious competition this season.

Garzon was 8-13 from three in Puerto Rico. The Terps probably need to bring that court back with them.
Happy for her. I mentioned her being a bit disappointing to start the season. She's really one of my favorite players I just had super high expectations.

At least they wouldn't have any challenges with customs if they did, since they played in Puerto Rico. 😉

How good is Michigan State? Anyone been watching their games? Their schedule so far has been ridiculously weak. But their stats through 8 games are out of this world. If the season ended today, Sparty would be both the best offensive BIG team and the best defensive BIG team in the advanced stats era (since 2009-10).

MSU’s current (12/2) 1.11 offensive points per play and .60 defensive points per play are both BIG bests since 2009-10.

The only team they've played with a pulse is Clemson at 5-3, and they beat them by 8 points. Preseason pundits have put Sparty in the top 20 but this schedule isn't going to prepare them for the BiG or the tournament. We'll see.

I believe they started last season atop the advanced stats nationally too. MSU’s been very good since Fralick got there, but I think they’re still a floor-8 seed, ceiling 5-seed type team.

Their next potential test will be later this month as they could face Ole Miss before the holidays. As you noted, no one will really know until they get into BIG10 conference play.

The scope of Sparty’s statistical greatness is really something, despite their BS schedule. In the advanced stats era MSU is currently the best shooting team (highest EFG%), best ball security team (lowest TO rate, highest AST/TO rate), best take-away team (highest steal rate) and best shot-blocking team (highest blocked-shot rate). They are currently the best in BIG history since 2009-10 in all of these categories. That’s absurd, even with a ridiculously weak schedule.

Minnesota played an even worse nonconference schedule last year, and was similar in low turnover rate, but nowhere near MSU’s statistical greatness in any of the other categories.

Seems weird to see "statistical greatness" being used considering their schedule to date, but I get it. 😉 😂
