B1G 25-26

Anticipation Popcorn GIF

Getting the feeling that BIG10 conference play is going to be hella interesting this year. Gonna be fun to sit back and watch what happens this season.

Yes indeed!!

FYI regarding Wright and her injury status. Ugh, feel for her as moving around with a sore neck is bad enough.

Very impressive win by the Terps! I wasn’t sure what to think of this game but Brenda did a nice job basically playing a small lineup, heck Mir played 25 min!
I still think they are 3rd in the Big 10 behind UCLA and Michigan with my hope Michigan beating UCLA and making our win all the more valuable. 😎

Nice game by Maryland. For me, it is always tough reading too much into these types of games unless Kentucky, depending on the ranking system you follow, ranked 16th beats Maryland (7th). I think Maryland a `10-12 to nothing run on Kentucky and clearly Maryland looked like a top ten team out there. But this was a nice game and challenge for both teams. A good measure for both teams. The Big Ten is always fun to watch and UCLA, if they aren't on their A game, will have some serious competition this season.

Garzon was 8-13 from three in Puerto Rico. The Terps probably need to bring that court back with them.
Happy for her. I mentioned her being a bit disappointing to start the season. She's really one of my favorite players I just had super high expectations.

At least they wouldn't have any challenges with customs if they did, since they played in Puerto Rico. 😉

How good is Michigan State? Anyone been watching their games? Their schedule so far has been ridiculously weak. But their stats through 8 games are out of this world. If the season ended today, Sparty would be both the best offensive BIG team and the best defensive BIG team in the advanced stats era (since 2009-10).

MSU’s current (12/2) 1.11 offensive points per play and .60 defensive points per play are both BIG bests since 2009-10.

The only team they've played with a pulse is Clemson at 5-3, and they beat them by 8 points. Preseason pundits have put Sparty in the top 20 but this schedule isn't going to prepare them for the BiG or the tournament. We'll see.

I believe they started last season atop the advanced stats nationally too. MSU’s been very good since Fralick got there, but I think they’re still a floor-8 seed, ceiling 5-seed type team.

Their next potential test will be later this month as they could face Ole Miss before the holidays. As you noted, no one will really know until they get into BIG10 conference play.

The scope of Sparty’s statistical greatness is really something, despite their BS schedule. In the advanced stats era MSU is currently the best shooting team (highest EFG%), best ball security team (lowest TO rate, highest AST/TO rate), best take-away team (highest steal rate) and best shot-blocking team (highest blocked-shot rate). They are currently the best in BIG history since 2009-10 in all of these categories. That’s absurd, even with a ridiculously weak schedule.

Minnesota played an even worse nonconference schedule last year, and was similar in low turnover rate, but nowhere near MSU’s statistical greatness in any of the other categories.

Seems weird to see "statistical greatness" being used considering their schedule to date, but I get it. 😉 😂

A full weekend of Big Ten conference play is upon us this weekend. I’m excited though this weekend does not feature the biggest matchups. We do have two games that have feature rivals from the old PAC!

Saturday:
Indiana at Illinois
Nebraska at Penn State
Iowa (12) at Rutgers

Sunday;
Purdue at Michigan (6)
tOSU (23) at Northwestern
Oregon (10-0) at UCLA (4)
Maryland (7) at Minnesota
Michigan State (20) at Wisconsin
Washington (20) at U$C (16)

Making my 1st trip to Michigan of the young season. Four-day weekend and might as well catch a flight to Ann Arbor to watch Big Blue against Purdue. I can watch Minnesota anytime.

Iowa still missing their PG plus 3 others due to injuries; Rutgers game not a sure win.

I am not a basketball expert, but I am pretty sure Iowa could beat Rutgers without a PG. If it was legal, Coach Jensen could run the point and get some buckets and help Iowa beat Rutgers. Y'all should be okay against Rutgers today.

Who are the others outside of Wright? She's been out for a while and they seem to be managing okay. If it's Heiden (sic), Stuelke, Fuerbach, etc., then that's a different situation.

Wondering same, I know Wright and top reserve Emely Rodriguez and also Teagan Mallegni.

Illinois beating Indiana at halftime 45-23!
Got even worse after Q3. Indiana outscored them 25-10 in Q4...and still lost by 21. That result is surprising to me.
