This is the second post in this thread that seems to forget about Amari deBerry on the front line .
I wish there was more video to see of her.
This is the second post in this thread that seems to forget about Amari deBerry on the front line .
Ayanna Patterson dunks, has a great smile & braces, many say she's 6'3", & will be flying down the court with Paige next year. Dawn Staley will hate her when she gets dunked on. Bad for, you know.....
Many references to her height being 6'3"- Maybe by next year, she'll be 6'4"! She looks very long.I just watched some of her highlite videos. She looks bigger than 6'2". Is that right? Looks like she is physical enough to play the 4.
We'll have to start working on the B team (plan B?)Aaliyah, Ayanna and Aalyah. I'm A-OK with that.
ASGR lists Ayanna at 6'3" now.She seems like Aaliyah to me, fierce on the court, all smiles off the court. In one video, saw her get 2 offensive rebounds, blocked by 2 players, & put it in the hoop on the 3rd try, & the same on a drive to the basket, with 3 opponents around her. Wasn't averse to contact, & did not seem foul prone. Very quick on the court. Long, snappy passes. I think UConn scored brilliantly on Ayanna.
Nika will have to wear a goalie mask to keep from getting black eyes. Those practice sessions with Aaliyah, Ice and Ayanna. Bring bandages
Unfortunately for you, I don’t see Coach Ivey being particularly anxious to schedule UConn again for the Huskies bi-annual trip to South Bend. The only thing that brings me more joy is UCONN beating them to a pulp!
Signed,
Someone who lives 2 miles from the ND campus
Geno will have an embarrassment of riches to choose from.I'd prefer to have 3 shooters surrounding her and overall have a quicker defense with a quicker transition to offense.
Damn glad to have her - regardless!
Start by spanking ArkansasUnfortunately for you, I don’t see Coach Ivey being particularly anxious to schedule UConn again for the Huskies semi-annual trip to South Bend.

I had another thought on Ayanna’s recruitment. Geno has a particular recruiting advantage over most other coaches that is even more pronounced when you can’t bring kids on campus for the typical “dog & pony” shows that many colleges stage for recruits.
Geno has always been extremely good at engaging in conversation with teenage kids on their level with intelligence, humor and motivation, something that is not easy for a lot of coaches, and many parents as well. In addition, Geno has always been comfortable talking to and reassuring parents that their “little girl” will be safe and able to prosper at UConn.
Without on campus visits, all that is left is a school’s reputation and the ability of the coaches to connect with a recruit and her family. Advantage = UConn!!!

Equally important is her strength and what appears to be a Edwards like ability to use physical contact to her advantage. With another year+ to add muscle before entering UConn, she has the ability to be very special. Many references to her height being 6'3"- Maybe by next year, she'll be 6'4"! She looks very long.
We got Brady, now we got Patterson but yet again I'm still greedy and say I still want Barker too. Stanford can have Betts and Oregon State can have Gardiner even if I wanted them too.

Where are those posters that were complaining Geno couldn't recruit anymore..this years class..next year and the year after that..can't really ask for much more
For those more in the know, what is it with the low heights? Is it that these services first list these players in middle school and just don't update the demographic info regularly?ASGR lists Ayanna at 6'3" now.
you think we are still in on Barker after getting AP?We got Brady, now we got Patterson but yet again I'm still greedy and say I still want Barker too. Stanford can have Betts and Oregon State can have Gardiner even if I wanted them to
Barker would be another talented addition, but if all the projected returning players, signees and commits are on the roster in 2 years, that will give UConn 10 wings, forwards or centers, and only 4 guards, one of whom is a walkon.Barker, 'Come on down'.![]()
I know, just fun to say.Barker would be another talented addition, but if all the projected returning players, signees and commits are on the roster in 2 years, that will give UConn 10 wings, forwards or centers, and only 4 guards, one of whom is a walkon.
I hope UConn’s next commitment comes from a guard. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I hope that commitment is KiKi Rice, the #1 rated pg in the class of 2022, who can play either the 1 or 2.

It’s official!
You are so spot on! A couple of real bangers on the boards with Aaliyah mentoring them for two years. Scary!Where is Dan Shaughnassy when you need him? Clearly Ayanna & Ice together for 4 years at UConn is really BAD for WBB.....and when you consider that they will overlap Aaliyah for 2 years, it could be absolutely terrifying for UConn opponents.
UConn bump.ASGR lists Ayanna at 6'3" now.

I don't know anyone on this page who ever claimed that Coach Geno "couldn't recruit anymore." Coach Geno himself remarked that he had lost out on recruits for two years running. We went into one of UConn's recruiting slumps, but not to the extent we did between Diana's recruitment and the landing of Tina Charles. Clearly, this represents one of the biggest "up" periods of recruiting we've had.
Would love to see a projected starting five plus the next two off the bench for each of the next three years!!! Too soon?...
Love it!
Jeter also noted Patterson hates losing. “Ayanna has cried after every loss,” Jeter said. “I don’t think she’s going to cry much if she decides to go there. She won’t be crying too often. She just wants to be
AyyayyayyayGeno will need some nicknames! We'll have Aaliyah and Ayanna and may add Aalayah (Del Rosario).
