Ayanna entering the transfer portal

Best of luck to her where ever she lands or decides to do. Missing essentially two years is devastating especially at a place like UConn. Unless you're at an Azzi talent level, I don't think it's possible to come back from that in such a competitive environment once you fall that far behind development wise.

I kind of thought this might happen.........I feel badly that Ayanna was unable to showcase all of talents due to a series of injuries during her time at UConn.......I hope she stays healthy and regains the form that made her such a high-ranking recruit coming out of high school......perhaps she'll head back to Indiana to continue her career.......

She's been thru a TON and been an amazing Husky and teammate. Wish her nothing but the best and hope she lands at a place where she can thrive and show why she was a top 5 recruit coming out of HS. I'll always wish she could have done that at UConn...

Maybe she'll end up at Northwestern??? Go Carla???

Best of luck to Ayanna, and I wish that that things had worked out better for her at UConn.....

Some other UConn players like Q, Ines and Saylor found success elsewhere, and hopefully Ayanna will find success on the court as well. I have no doubt that her phone will be ringing!

As a season ticket holder I was able to observe her interactions with her teammates this season and there is no doubt she was a GREAT teammate, supportive, positive. She seems very easy going and unassuming. Wonderful smile. I am sure that her UConn teammates will miss her terribly.

During her Freshman year, I thought she showed a lot of promise and actually matched up pretty well against superstar Aneesha Morrow in the game against DePaul at Gampel. This year, her minutes were limited but I bet she was right at or near the top of the list in free throws attempted per minutes played.

She has at least one year of eligibility left and hopefully two, as she did not play at all for two full seasons due to injury.

Ayanna and Ice were rated 4 and 5 on the ESPN Hoopgurlz (now Next 100) ratings for 2022. Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten both of them. It is unfortunate that injuries are so prevalent in women's basketball.

Before this announcement, there was some disagreement if our one spot should be used at all, or on a big or a guard. Now even if we pursue a guard with one it is clear we must pursue a big, particularly with Ice potentially not being available at all next year. At best Geno described it as a long recovery.

It would be outstanding if she can land somewhere were she can play meaningful minutes. Who would be more deserving of being able to show her skills and succeeding in the game she loves? I hope ends up on a team that gets some network TV time so we can see her play.
