Ayanna entering the transfer portal

Michigan just beat Uconn last night and all 5 of their starters are transfers.

Let's add some context to these transfers. Look at where these players came from because they considered weren't major contributors at their previous programs. Some could say Illinois, UCLA and UNC whiffed on how they handled them. 🤷🏾‍♀️

My opinion, she’s better suited for a mid major if he wants minutes and to make some sort of impact. Too many others who have left with greater potential (Mir, Saylor) never really made a significant dent within the multiple programs they chose, and those were near or at Top25 teams.

Don't disagree, but with a school in between, say a low D1, being a great fit. A few games a year versus top competition would likely prove her skills and help her self respect without being too much to overcome. She will still need teammates that can get her the ball and assist in other areas no matter where she goes.

.-.
Took a little digging, however here were her finalists in March 2021 - UCLA, UConn, Indiana, Louisville, Notre Dame

Also had a whole slew of offers per Raoul's page - link here.

I have mixed feelings about this news. Clearly, I am sorry to hear Patterson is leaving. When we recruited her, I was very excited to have a player of her athleticism join the team. In my mind's eye, she was a bigger Gabby Williams. She has had a lot of bad luck, injury wise, but it seems that she is finally healthy. I'm sorry to see her go.

On the other hand, she only has a limited amount of college eligibility, and if she feels, she can better use that at a different location, I am completely supportive of that. I wish her the very best.

I can’t say how much I’ll miss Yanna. She definitely was dealt a bad hand with her injuries but she handled it with grace and dignity. Let’s not forget, as she dealing with her own injuries, she comforted and helped her teammates through their own injuries. With her faith guiding her, I’m sure wherever she goes, she will be a welcomed addition and asset. Godspeed young lady. We will truly miss you and always remember, “ONCE A HUSKY, ALWAYS A HUSKY “

Any thoughts as to where she might end up? I assume if anything was published (visits, etc.), someone would post it here.

.-.
What sucks here is that this young lady has bounce in her game and can rebound. We don’t really have an Edwards type of player. Yes we have Sarah and Blanca who can hang under the basket and bound the ball. I really can’t wait to see Olivia and Gandy play. Some of you will mention Ice but I really don’t think that she will be ready come season start.

Saylor Poffenbarger had a good NCAA career after leaving UConn.

She was not an All American.
Neither were top 5 high school recruits ONO, Christyn, and Dangerfield.

Saylor compared to beloved UConn players.

1196 points . . . . . . . . ONO had 1179.
1035 rebounds . . . . . Gabby had 1007. Edwards had 1020.
294 assists . . . . . . . . . Christyn Williams had 297.
150 steals . . . . . . . . . KLS had 172. Walker had 95.
116 blocks . . . . . . . . more than KLS, Nurse, and Walker combined.

140 games . . . . . . . . Less than Gabby and Nurse. Same as KLS.

Saylor at Arkansas.

2022-3 season . . . SEC All freshman team.
2023-4 season . . . SEC ranked 2nd in rebounds per game and 1st in defensive rebounds per game.

Saylor at Maryland.

2024-5 season . . . Cheryl Miller Award watch list. 17 rebounds versus #4 USC. 18 points versus #1 UCLA.
2025-6 season . . . 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block against NCAA champion UCLA.

Best of luck to Ayanna Patterson on whichever team she signs with.

Lot of impressive numbers which tell only a portion of one’s performance. Let’s see where or if she lands with the draft!

I provided facts to disprove your original statement "Saylor never really made a significant dent within the multiple programs".

So you moved the goal posts. 😆

Best of luck to Ayanna Patterson on her next NCAA team.

I hope she becomes the next Natalie Butler. Goes to a lesser known basketball school and then plays like some of us think she is capable of.
Agree with this! Potentially she has 2 seasons left with all the injuries and has completed her UConn degree!

Hopefully, she stays healthy and finds a school to play 20-30 minutes a game. She has talent and athleticism to make a nice contribution somewhere.

Go Yanna!

Not really, we just have different definitions of significant. All good.

This whole free agency in college sports is getting outrageous.

I am a fan of the Miami Hurricanes football team and last year they paid Carson Beck 4 million dollars to be their quarterback.

He drove around campus in his Lamborghini. No joke.
It's time for the NCAA to drop the entire facade of "student"-athletes and with the NFL and NBA set up college semi-pro leagues with athletes who can play for a school but under negotiated contracts with the semi-pro league subject to NBA and NFL salary caps and union contracts negotiated separately with each school. In other words, it's time to STF (Stop The Farce). But then where would that leave the NCAA? On second thought, bad idea. Nevermind. I'll go back to grumbling about bad officiating. 😀

With the report of ICE Brady now in the PORTAL ( Wed, April 8, NOON)
a school could have the nucleus of a potentially seasoned
roster if both went to the same program (NORTHWESTERN?)
