And Shabazz is tied for 5th in APG! I can't believe the stat stuffers we have on our team this year! I hope they maintain these numbers. If they keep playing this way we should just book our tickets to the Final Four now!

As I said, I love Shabazz. Great player and tremendously loyal to Uconn. I just think saying that he is better than Ray is a stretch. One is a sure-fire NBA hall of famer, the other is someone I hope can make a career in the NBA

There are college greats as Huskies and then there are guys who have made it big in the NBA, made a "living" in the NBA and some who have yet to be given the chance. No matter how it shakes out for his career, Shabazz has definitely placed himself up there with the likes of Ray, Rip, Kemba and so many others we think of as truly great Huskies. Let's not concern ourselves with what he becomes at the next level but look at the player he has been while here at Storrs. Take in the idea that he was a late "add on" due to necessity it may be a better story than any of the elite names we think of!!

The first time I saw Ray shoot a ball as a fairly unheraralded freshman, you could see that shot was something special.
Is was bottom of the net only,a thing of beauty.
Ray was also 6'5" could create his own shot and had a power move to the hoop. He could also put the ball on the floor.
In other words he was a can't miss pro who needed only two years
SN is 6 ft tall, is a great ball handler, and has become an amazingly clutch shooter . For him to play the point at the next level required 3 plus years of understanding of the position. His growth has been amazing. I think he was fortunate to have KO .He plays the most difficult position in the game and there are real questions regarding him defending bigger guards at the next level,plus a history of injuries. But what he does at the next level won't change the fact that if not among the 5 or so of our greatest players,he certaining up there with the 5 most important players.
I'm happy we had Bazz for four years, he has grown into a really great player. Lets enjoy the time has has left with us.

I had exactly the same reaction when I first saw Ray shoot the ball as a Husky. I didn't know who he was or where he came from, but his shot had a quality approaching perfection, even as a freshman. I have a picture of his rising up just below the foul line with taller defenders around him, hanging longer than it seemed he should have and then released a shot that barely touched the net with total composure. It was striking in how different/special he seemed from the beginning.
