Rebounding check, great passing check, great shooting check, unselfish team play check. Watching that game you can see we are oozing with talent and have great depth. Giffey has always been one of my favorites but he has taken his game to a whole new level and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on an NBA roster in the future. Omar looks different as well, he's moving better/driving better and now has a lightning quick release. Boat is playing smart and unselfish basketball, his drives and kicks to the shooters is a huge part of our offense. Brimah is getting better and better and later in the season we will start hearing NBA chatter. Bazz is Bazz and it is great to see Daniels get it going some in the second half. Just an all around great effort, I know it's against Detroit but you can recognize the talent and team play. Now watch the boneyard go silent.

We'll still figure out ways to say the game wasn't good enough. Great game. Great defensive effort. Fast break looked great. Blocks and intimidation were great.

Great game. Kudos to the team for playing hard throughout. Love what KO has done with chemistry. Great to see Daniels play better; still has a ways to go, but he's on the right track. Napier is an amazing, amazing player. I've never been so impressed with a player, Kemba and Ray Allen were magnificent but Shabazz does everything.

Shabazz is a more skilled player than Kemba, he doesn't have Kemba's lightining quickness but in terms of straight skills and headiness I think he's even better than Kemba.

Great night! They played as well as the first 28 minutes with MD
I love Bazz especially for his loyalty to UCONN . He is a great talent. But he is not Ray and not yet Kemba

Giffey is starting to remind me of when Danny Green took the leap from ok rotation player to a does a lil bit of everything main cog for that UNC title team.

He's pretty quick still, I'd say.

He also has many more weapons around him so he hasn't had to carry the team (couldn't against MD-foul trouble), so we really have no idea what he can do if he needs to go off. Kemba didn't have Omar and Neils type production this early in 2010-2011.

While I've been a big fan of Bazz and Giffey since they've been here, I'm glad that Boatright has steadily been proving me wrong. I'm hoping that Boat keeps it up and makes me eat a large amount of crow on the way to a FF. Nice game for Calhoun, looks like the player we were hoping to see as a frosh.

Daniels has been under-performing, and we'll certainly need him to kick it up a notch, but I didn't have gigantic expectations for him. It has certainly been alleviated by the great presence of Brimah, Kromah and Samuels being able to provide meaningful minutes beyond what I thought was a reasonable expectation. Love seeing so many people tallying double-digit minutes and will be interesting to see who stays in rotation if KO tightens it up going into conference play.

One of "new" coach's philosophies seems to be getting the newer players lots of minutes. I like seeing that as it can only be beneficial later in the season. The team was still running offense no matter who was in the game. Didn't see any selfish plays by someone saying "I've got to get mine". Whole team really has bought in and they look good.

This team has incredible potential. In terms of 1-12 this has to be the best Uconn team of all time. I mean the are 20 point scorers all over the court with perhaps the best PG in college basketball. Is there ANY doubt BOTH Boatright and Bazz wouldve had triple doubles tonight with ten more minutes of play? Bazz 3 games hes avg 9 rebounds in les than 30 minutes. Hes just got a nice explosion to the ball hes strong for his size with great hands and s trong base--hes just good.

I think our gold standard is 1993-94:

Starters: Ollie, Sheffer, Marshall, Marshall, Hayward
Second Unit: Allen, Fair, Johnson, King, Knight (4 of whom started on a 33-2 team two years later)

Willingham and Marcus Thomas were 11-12 on the deep bench.

Great win! amazing. I really enjoy being able to watch those games on SNY here in NYC. Hope that partnership goes on forever.

with that said, why so many empty seats for a campus season opener? oh well. whatever. just keep winning

(I was looking back at attendance levels back in 2003-04 and I was amazed how high was huskymania back then. All M&W MBB games sold out, Football sold pretty well also. Its amazing. I guess attendance goes through up/down cycles but I cannot comprehend how such talented M&W teams we have today are not enough to put those butts in the seats...)

After being down 17-13 the defense just went in lock down mode.....so many guys so quickly to the ball!! It did look like they had 6-7 defenders at times especially with their ability to get to the perimeter on the shooters. This team, when it wants, has been the best at defending the 3 in a long time, real long time!

Also I love this team after an opponents made hoop, they get it out and go and shove their speed up their respective a**es!! Great stuff..........

I love Bazz, he's no Kemba

as a Jr., Kemba carried a bunch of freshmen AO & Jamal Coombs-McDaniel to a national title. Bazz is leading a loaded team

and it's speed, quickness and hops that sets Kemba apart. He jumps over the bigs when going to the hoop

I thought it was a pretty good Gampel crowd for the circumstances. My gut says attendance is already up over last year at this time. It might not show in the numbers because of the 3pm vets day start but there were a lot of people there.

I always enjoy when someone who's close enough to go to the game but doesn't then questions why other people aren't there.

I would agree with everyone here, expect I think we should cool it on the NBA talk for Brimah and Giffey. It wasn't two weeks ago that DD was a lottery pick. Let these guys play their game, everything will work out like it's supposed to.

I love Bazz especially for his loyalty to UCONN . He is a great talent. But he is not Ray and not yet Kemba

He doesn't have Ray's height or Kemba's speed, and maybe his NBA upside is not as high for that reason, but he is better than either of them at understanding where everyone is on the court and anticipating events and putting himself in a position to make plays. He seems to be able to score, set up a teammate, or rebound almost at will -- if he decides to focus on assists, he'll pile up assists; rebounds, he'll pile up rebounds; score, he'll score (witness overtime games last year).

True enough, Kemba was a one-man team. He was quick enough to create his own shot at will. But with good teammates, Bazz may be even more of a contributor than Kemba was. He can be a great player scoring 12 points a game.

But regardless of who is the better player, I just love watching Bazz play. There's nothing more fun than team play and great assists.

I agree on Brimah, he's still very raw.

Giffey opened some eyes in Germany this summer, his play so far this year isn't hurting. He may be able to work himself into a second round selection as a 3-D guy. At the least he should make some good money in Europe.

Actually man. I can only attend games when I visit my gf at Uconn. There is no possibility of me making it to one of these games, especially without a car. I would love to. But I just can't so my best option is SNY

The students in the other hand, are on campus, and most of the hartford fan base is only a 30-1hr drive away...

Yeah, give the guy a break. For people who work until 5 or 6 pm in New York, it is a long haul to get to Storrs by 7 pm.
