Someone posted maybe a month ago about a tall player in Denmark. Haven't read anything about her since.

Julianna Okosun is a tall player from Denmark. She was mentioned in the post right above your initial inquiry.

UConn probably “backed off” :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Of Okosun I had previously wrote that UCONN's chances of landing her were poor because Kuier, and Prince were possibilities and DeBerry was two years away. Prince is gone and Kuier is giving every indication of turning pro. In short Okosun might have moved up on the list of post possibilities for UCONN.

Another apparent UConn POI in the tourney is Okosun's teammate Katrine Jensen. She's had a very up-and-down tournament from a shooting standpoint but contributed in other ways. Here's her player page.

Kuier had 7 points and 7 rebounds in 10 minutes as the team won easily and were getting ready for the next games:

18 points and 11 rebounds for Jessen and 10 points and 6 rebounds for Okosun as Denmark won to join Finland in the quarterfinals:

Teams must win on Friday to still have a chance of getting their teams moved up to the top division next summer.

is there a new rule that makes it illegal for UConn to sign any more American players over six feet tall?............. ;)

Highlights from Tuesday:

The more tape I watch on her, the more impressed I am! She is so fundamentally sound, she has great hands, she moves without the ball so well, she rebounds, she blocks shots, she handles the ball well, she can knock down a jump shot. She is a very good player that could be really special with some good coaching.

Frankly, a European player who's already this developed and polished at age 17 is highly unlikely to postpone a lucrative pro career for an amateur stint in another continent.

is there any indication of UConn being interested in any of those players (Awak, Jessen or Okosun)?

Kuier was 4-7 from three and 7-8 from the foul line on Friday.

Emily Bessior, Jelena Mitrovic, Zeynep Gul & Nika Muhl are all ranked ahead of Awak Kuier by young buckets, all four are NCAA bound-so you never know.

That ranking is over 2-1/2 years old, Coco. It'd be interesting to see what they looked like today, but I don't know how anyone can be ranked ahead of Kuier.

There is ZERO chance there are 7 better players than Kuier!

I really wish there were better sources for international rankings. Prospects Nation used to be pretty good (at least for free international rankings), but I guessed they ditched it for 2019. I’m guessing Makurat would be #2 for 2019? Maybe Mitrovic #3?

That is a far different point than the one I was making and the one that @Pleble made. Kuier may very well be number 1 internationally. @Plebe point was that a player of Kuier skill level will likely stay in Europe and turn pro. Anna Makurat and Satou Sabally did not.
