August 2019 WNBA Discussions, scores, game info, pictures

Washington cant miss from 3. 8-9.

"Only" 17-25 overall. When I've watched them, I've been impressed with how many of their shots go in. They have good ball movement and take good shots, but it's kind of stunning how well they shoot the ball collectively.

Arike is definitely putting on a show (good and not so good). The James Harden of the WNBA. Not sure if that is a complement?:confused::confused:

The Mystics style should make Geno smile. Very attractive basketball.

I suppose I need to eat a helping of crow, or humble pie, or something. Epiph Prince apparently is not rusty, she's 3-4 for 8 points, 2-3 behind the arc. Aces still trailing LA by 11 at halftime. I did get part of my prediction correct, no Rodgers so far. @Plebe 's favorite player Riquna Williams is going off w/ 23 points at the midpoint.

What happened in the Washington-Dallas game? Wings w/ a 22-8 advantage in Q4, made a game of it. Doesn't look like the Mystics went deep into their bench either.

They played too passively running down the clock and Dallas made more three's than usual.

Ah, the prevent defense failed again. I guess didn't fail ultimately because they still won, but made the game closer than it should've been. Why do most coaches believe in this strategy, and most fans know better?

Aja Wilson is the only starter doing anything for the Aces. Cambage, T. Young and the Notre Dame backcourt are taking the night off apparently. That team is falling apart the last week+.

Ha. I should quit while I'm behind. From the play by play on ESPN it looks like Plum has spearheaded the Aces rally in the 2nd half, playmaking and scoring. They're up 4 now.

edit--whoa, make that up 9, another bucket and assist for Plum

26-11 advantage for LV in Q4. Plum has 15 points and 5 assists in 2nd half, I think she's only missed 1 shot in that time frame.

Damn I wish I could watch this game. LV was up 12, but LA has cut it to 6 in a hurry. Long 3's by Williams and Gray.

Williams has 32 for the game for LA. Plum has scored 19 in the 2nd half on 7-9 shooting. Aces up 8 w/ 1:18 left.

Jeez there's been a lot of turnovers for both teams down the stretch. 92-86 LV, LA ball w/ 6 seconds left.

LA could've all but wrapped up the #3 seed w/ a win, but looks like it's going to slip away from them.

edit--make that a final. Williams w/ 37 but it wasn't enough. Wilson led LV w/ 24, 20 for Plum.

I've been thinking this, but someone smarter than me proved it. Cambage and Wilson aren't really a good combo, Aces are better with only one or the other on the floor + Hamby.

Also Plum scored 17 in the 4th quarter tonight. She's been much maligned this year but she won this game for them.

When Cambage was traded to LV I questioned if her and Wilson could play together.

I couldn't find much in the way of highlights last night, but found this today. Compressed full highlights showing all of the scoring except FTs. In the 4th quarter that is vintage Plum, looks just like she did in college.

I watched the 4th quarter last night. Plum was absolutely on fire and won the game for them. The crowd (9000 tickets/8400 actual) was amazing - playoff-like environment. They interviewed Plum and A’ja after the game. Plum basically said she needed this one after struggling so much lately, and credited her parents and ‘best friend’ for flying in for the game to support her.

Sky and Merc are in a dogfight, Chicago up 54-53 at halftime. Griner has 20 points. Ndour has 12 and DeShields and Quigley both have 11. Sloot w/ 9 assists already. She might get to 300 this year. Who would've thought that was even possible?

What the heck? Storm vs. Dream is supposed to be on a local station here, instead it's stupid Pawn Stars. Lame.

edit--now scrolling across the screen, game will not be seen due to technical difficulties

At least Phoenix is unlikely to shoot quite so well in the second half. In addition to Griner being dominant, they made a ton of jump shots including 5-7 3s.

I don't if she's not 100% or just rusty but Taurasi hasn't looked good at all.

In a limited number of games she's shooting sub 10% from the floor this season. Almost an impossible level of futility to achieve. She had a back injury, correct? Those can be really problematic.

Sky running away in Q3, now up 15. Sloot is taking a run at the single game assist record. Penicheiro recorded 16 twice. Sloot has gotten to 15 twice. She has 11 about midway thru Q3 today.

JoeTV got their problems fixed, now they are showing the Storm game. Seattle up 53-36, their highest scoring first half all season. 5-9 behind the arc. Alysha Clark is 5-5 for 11 points.

Sloot got to rest on the bench a fair bit of the 2nd half due to the game turning into a blowout. 13 assists. 105-78 Sky inside a minute left.

Atlanta has whittled a 20 point deficit down to 7, 5 minutes to go in the game. This is way more interesting than it should be.
