No. I moved 200 miles awayDid you dump the season tickets because of the move to the AAC?
yeah, but why did you dump the season tix?No. I moved 200 miles away

They are. So is Nebraska often.Pretty sure they are top 10 maybe top 5 for men’s basketball attendance
My son is a student at UConn now and he told me a bunch of them are planning on lining up to get in hours before the game. Also, the school made them get tickets for this one beforehand rather than just swiping to get in. Expect a good student representation tomorrow. Should be fun to be at Gampel. Looking forward to seeing the 1989-90 team and JC the GOATWe better have a sellout. Students pack the place to the rafters. Drown out everything Cincy.like we used to do to G TOWN in the Thompson, Ewing days. Let's show people in this country what real basketball fans act like.
We gotta have a winner and it starts now.
and.......?No. I moved 200 miles away
People are picking and choosing because we were awful for several years in a row and there's only like 2 or 3 matchups which are attractive to non diehards.Season tickets aren't cheaper - other ways are cause demand is down. People are now picking and choosing which games to attend. I remember how expensive it was to buy extra tickets for family visiting from New York who wanted to go to the game.
How’d we do?Expect a packed student section. We are excited.
Not bad. You're not the guy who shot from half court for a boom box, are you? How’d we do?
Several sell-outs a season counts as all the time to me.I was a season ticket holder from 1978 - 2013 and while there may have been some sellouts during Perno's years I would not say it was all the time
Looked pretty full to me.How’d we do?
I don't know what you're talking about. Not bad. You're not the guy who shot from half court for a boom box, are you?
During a time out, there was a guy named Max shooting half court shots to win a boom box. Guess it wasn't you.I don't know what you're talking about.
I question your commitment.No. I moved 200 miles away
That’s one. Also 50 inch TVs. Every game on tv. Just a different society. And the fact that generally speaking the in game experience is not as good as the at home one largely to accomodate tv. If you go back and look sellouts were pretty rare across sports until the mid to late 80s. In some ways we are returning to the norm.Cost could be a big part of that.
Being there is always better. People get old and lazy too soon these days.
Maybe next year but long term not so much. We were not selling out in 2011-2015. In fact attendance fell every year from 2008 I believe. I suspect it might bump up next year but UNH, NJIT type games that sold out in 2004 won’t sell out in the future. Big East games against the bad teams won’t sell out after next year. Heck UNC, Duke, programs that would sell out for practice if they wanted don’t sell out except for big games now. I guarentee everyone will be patting themselves on the back when attendance bumps up next year. But in 5 years they’ll be trying to explain the fall off. 3 if we don’t make the Tounament. This is a non-issue that gets brought up around here, things will be different next season.
Losing and games vs ECU, Tulsa, UCF vs GT, Syracuse , Villanova etc. have a whole lot to do with it.It's just the reality of the world we live in. People have infinite more options for entertainment.
Opponents definately make a difference. AAC teams hold little appeal to fans that have been spoiled by our previous rivals in the Big East.Losing and games vs ECU, Tulsa, UCF vs GT, Syracuse , Villanova etc. have a whole lot to do with it.
This: and ease of watching on TVCost, people have more things to do, and ease of watching on TV. Considering the team hasn't had a winning record in 4 years and played in a conference no one cares about, it has been fine for UConn. Between Hurley turning it around and going back to the Big East, I am optimistic UConn will see a significant boost in attendance.
That's really not it at all but ok.The state Demographics have changed since the 1990’s .
Alumni don’t even stay in state in the numbers they use to.
Its all about economics.
Every time a UConn fan retires out of state that’s one less person with disposable income willing to attend games. I just read Ct is 2-3 in population bleed but the the opener was the average income of the emigrants is around six figures.
How many on this board are part of the UConn diaspora? I would bet a bunch.
They as well as I would be going to games and probably taking our grandsons.
I can recall being able to sit down and watch just about any Big East game on TV in the 80's and 90's. The whole league which was regional was very entertaining and the competition was electric. Hoping this excitement returns. We used to sell out the Civic Center when Perno was coaching all the time.

I agree with you. Not really saying tv ratings............just more people that watch on tv as on option that maybe used to attend the games. Have to admit it is a much better experience than what I was watching games on years ago.But I don't believe TV ratings are going up
I think you're right. Wouldn't know it by me as I watch NCAA basketball whenever it's on. My favorite sport - plus good scouting out possible tournament opponents for the Huskies and help with my bracket. But I don't believe TV ratings are going up
