It's just the reality of the world we live in. People have infinite more options for entertainment.
Losing and games vs ECU, Tulsa, UCF vs GT, Syracuse , Villanova etc. have a whole lot to do with it.

Opponents definately make a difference. AAC teams hold little appeal to fans that have been spoiled by our previous rivals in the Big East.

Cost, people have more things to do, and ease of watching on TV. Considering the team hasn't had a winning record in 4 years and played in a conference no one cares about, it has been fine for UConn. Between Hurley turning it around and going back to the Big East, I am optimistic UConn will see a significant boost in attendance.
This: and ease of watching on TV

Living in VA I used to search around for a Bar hoping to get the game on Sat TV. Now I can see every game while sitting on my couch. Hurts the Bar and Game Attendance.

The state Demographics have changed since the 1990’s .
Alumni don’t even stay in state in the numbers they use to.
Its all about economics.
Every time a UConn fan retires out of state that’s one less person with disposable income willing to attend games. I just read Ct is 2-3 in population bleed but the the opener was the average income of the emigrants is around six figures.
How many on this board are part of the UConn diaspora? I would bet a bunch.
They as well as I would be going to games and probably taking our grandsons.

We used to sell out the Civic Center when Perno was coaching all the time.
I can recall being able to sit down and watch just about any Big East game on TV in the 80's and 90's. The whole league which was regional was very entertaining and the competition was electric. Hoping this excitement returns.

But I don't believe TV ratings are going up
I agree with you. Not really saying tv ratings............just more people that watch on tv as on option that maybe used to attend the games. Have to admit it is a much better experience than what I was watching games on years ago.

I think you're right. Wouldn't know it by me as I watch NCAA basketball whenever it's on. My favorite sport - plus good scouting out possible tournament opponents for the Huskies and help with my bracket.

Same. When it comes to decline in attendance it’s probably a mix of all the things mentioned.
