At this point, what will you consider a successful season?

Team isnt good enough at the lead guard spot. Diarra is hurt, Mahaney and Nowell non-factor and when you factor in Solo Ball’s poor defense and poor ball handling skills, it is just too much. ’

My thing? Win Big East tournament and/or get 8/9 seed and play Duke round of 32.

No. And it's not even close to being a concern. And without even fact checking the rest I know this isn't true because Florida didn't make the NCAA tournament following their back to back championships in 2006 and 2007

With a chance to make history and the the hype from day 1, a 3-peat is what it would take for me.

If healthy, not losing McNeeley for a long stretch, defending without fouling so much, Karaban playing up to his potential, Hass healthy, having a solid backup PG and the team capable of inbounding the ball, their record, ranking, expectations and this thread would look a lot different. The fact is all that hasn't happened, though Alex might have begun to come around.

I think a lot of the above can be fixed, except for the lack of PG options, especially if Hass is not able to heal, which seems unlikely. I can't imagine him being able to play 3 to 4 (or even back-to-back) consecutive BET games.

I'd prefer that the season end with a win and not a loss. If they make the NCAA Tournament only one thing can happen for that to be the outcome. Just haven't witnessed the level of play, execution on either end of the floor or the toughness to feel all that good about our final outcome. That doesn't mean I'll stop hoping for history to be made.
 
Cooper Flagg winning it all is probably the best outcome. I’m focused on the Championship.

Results-wise, I’d say make the tournament and win the first round game. Everything after is a bonus.

Play-wise I’d say run the offense and get good shots on every trip (no late clock desperation heaves), beat pressing D, reduce turnovers, and look like there’s a plan getting the darn ball inbounds.
 
We are 17-8 and 9-5 in the Big East with 6 BE games left. We need to go at least 4-2 in those games and make it to the semis of the BE tourney to lock down an at-large bid to the NCAA. Our NET rating is #35 and makes us not a slam dunk to get that at-large bid today.
 
Run the table, get a 6 seed and win it all.

Realistically: Make the tourney, win a first round game, be at least competitive in a 2nd round game if not win it.
Hopefully: Make the tourney, win a first round game, some matchups break the right way, a couple of guys play out of their minds, go on a run.

Someone said it already, but I'd much rather grab a 10 seed than an 8-9. Give me a 7 & 2 than an 8 & 1. Seeds 4-11 look a lot alike and all very beatable.

Our chance of beating a Duke (which would smother us defensively) or an Auburn is close to 0%. Duke might at least be fun given the matchup. I'd much rather play highly rated offensive teams than defensive, because as we've seen this team can go into demoralizing ruts offensively when playing smothering defenses.

Positive outcome:
  • 7 seed so we have better chance, leading to
  • Sweet 16
  • BET finals
 
  • 20 wins going into BET
  • 2 wins in the BET
  • Tourney seed 7 or 10
  • Elite 8

Yeah, we would need a total collapse to completely fall out of the field. Talking like going 2-4 rest of the regular season, then getting bounced 1st round of the BET. That finish would probably saddle us with 3 more Q2 or worse losses. A 2-5 finish would put us at 19-13 (11-9). If that happened, definitely time to push the panic button, but I see us going 3-3 at worst and winning at least 1 BET game. If we do any worse than that, we don't deserve to be in the NCAAT anyways.

Compete in close 2nd round game (likely a 1 or 2 seed)

UConn also has five wins over teams in the bracket, including Texas, which is one of the "last four in." That inconsistency is why the Huskies have spent most of the season in the middle of the bracket and why they could eventually fall out. I would still be surprised if they did.

Let’s just win today so a loss vs St Johns doesn’t torpedo the season.
 
Noting Xavier has 4 games left, with 3 winnable so probably a loss to Creighton: 20-11.
We have 5 games left and need 3 of them for 21-10 so we are seeded in the BET above Xavier.

Right now, but this will change:

  • Make it to the second weekend in the NCAA Tournament
  • End the season with a lot of positive vibes about guys who can potentially return
