Fr - 23.8%
So - 38.6%
Jr - 35.9%
Sr - 45.7%

(Edit: I don't "expect" 45%+. 42%+ would make me happy)

I don't know if Hield's mechanics, shot selection or confidence improved from Jr to Sr year, or a combination of the three. I think we'll be leaning on Rodney as the senior/#1 option in the offense.

I think it's just repetition. If purvis works as hard as Hield was reported to have worked, then the improvement is certainly possible. And yes, Rodney will certainly be option 1 or at worst 1A or B along with JA.

Above my capabilities on AD's foul shooting but I could delegate to the right guy. So much is Psychological.

I am sure someone else may have mentioned it - but my point was he is receptive to coaching and wants to get better - and I really like that side of him.

Elaborate for me please? Why do lay-ups when you can power dunk everything. I remember there was one game and some media guy was complaining to Calhoun that 6 of Andre's 7 shots were dunks - and Calhoun said he wished he dunked all 7.

The only thing purvis should be worrying about is his overall ball handling and passing ability, originally considered a possible pg when he transfered, he has turned into a 3+d specialist... if he can't tighten his grip I hope he becomes more confident letting treys fly on catch shoot/off screens( a la Jamal Murray). Not no pump faking bs
 
If Rodney finshes a lot better around the rim/going to the basket, and I do mean a lot, he will have a fantastic senior season.

Ha ha - I thought the layup comment was about Andre.

As for Putvis, my first observation is he lacks confidence with the off hand - and that sets him up to get his shot blocked easily. So he needs to develop the off hand.

Additionally, I have not asked anyone what the measurement is - but it appears that his arms are disproportionately short for his height- so even on strong hand lay ups he can not extend with the arm as some guys can. I think to compensate sometimes he throws his off left shoulder into the defender, which can bring a foul or makes the shot even more off balance.

One way Coach Blaney use to say one could efficiently improve on lay ups is to improve on foul shotting since a decent percentage of lay ups end in foul shots. I do think Purvis did improve his foul shotting as last season went on - so he should continue that.

A final point and this is very basic - he needs to keep his head and eyes up - it should improve his percentage but also it makes you look more under control and you get the border calls rather than a charge.

I wonder if Bazz Senior year performance had any effect on his decision. After all he experienced it all and was a part of it.
