"She really liked ASU and Charlie (Turner Thorne) and wanted to stay home, but to have an opportunity to play for UConn, that's a one-in-a-lifetime thing," said Curtis [Ekmark].

...

Ekmark, who played a big role in St. Mary's finishing as the No. 1-ranked high school girls team in the country last season, is ranked No. 13 nationally overall and No. 3 at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz and No. 9 nationally overall by All-Star Girls Report.

"It's just tough to beat that atmosphere over there for women's basketball," Curtis said.

Wouldn't having the opportunity to play for ASU also be a once in a lifetime thing? There's no do overs in WCBB. ;)

Yes, in the sense that the opportunity to play for Providence would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Getting back to Arizona, one of Courtney's teammates is going to Harvard this Fall. It's cold there, too, in wintertime.

Here's an article on Curtis Ekmark, Courtney's father and coach - http://tinyurl.com/7qcshaz

What she meant, obviously, was that it is a fine opportunity, and not all opportunities are equally fine.

Didn't we get a prominent recruit a few short years ago who saw UConn as a once in a lifetime opportunity and decided quickly that a single day in her lifetime satisfied the requirement?

St Mary's usually has a great team with 3 or move Div 1 prospects on their team annually. Who knows this may be the start of more players that come out of a great HS Girls Basketball Program. St Mary's is similar to BolingBrook HS and Mater Dei when it comes to Girls Basketball

Plus, it is frequently 120 degrees in Arizona. I'd get out of there, too.

Coach Ekhart says that they currently have 8 Division 1 players. Yikes!

Christ the King will always be my first love for girls' BB players. If you look at the ten players who would comprise UConn's and Tennessee's starting fives, three of them are CTK alumnae, all NPOY winners, with seven NCs between them. That's just impressive.
