The Duke football coach got three times the air time that the American did.
Yea - it is a sad state of affairs when the Duke football coach garners more airtime than your entire conference. I must say, though, that Aresco is working it as well as he can. But he is confronted by the simple fact that nobody respects his conference, most notably, one of our corporate welfare recipients, ESPN.
I think back 3 years ago and wonder where the old BE would be if Aresco had been Commish then. In fairness, Aresco was brought to the helm of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg. Consider the ACC, the B1G, the SEC had smart gunslingers in place for the CR showdown and we had Marinatto. Swofford, Delany et al were on such a different plane then Marinatto. Swofford dismantled the BE before the staff in Providence got out of bed that morning in Sept. 2011. Call it connivance or intrigue, it was over before it began.
I wonder if Aresco would have seen the storm clouds on the horizon and tried to stem the tide. We'll never know and now Aresco's reality (and ours) is we have a conference that no one will take seriously.
