Me too, Beechmont Dairy, 1964-1966Proof that I'm older than dirt- Little Leauge, 1959. We had hand me down uni's, our benches were wood planks on top of a couple concrete blocks, but Ioved every minute of it. That's me batting.
Who remembers the Christmas Lights and tinsel strung across the Post Rd in Fairfield for a mile or two? Or Sonny Fox coming to Fairfield to turn the lights on, Lol.rock and roll shows in Hartford-the old State Theater. Another classic were the Christmas windows at G. Fox
Did a bit of that myself in the early '50s. Saturdays when school was in session, weekdays too when it wasn't. Fortunately, I didn't have to get up early. The driver had already started his route and would pick me up at 7. There was no passenger seat. I don't remember if there was a driver's seat. I do remember him driving while standing. One of my summer jobs during college was as the "runner" on a milk truck. We loaded up the milk, eggs, and butter at 3 AM(that huge freezer was so cold at that hour). I would load up each order in the metal hand carrier , and hoof it up to the front door. Great way to get in shape!

I don't need to test to know that I am older than dirt.
Beginning of the Le Brea tar pits
I can still recall some of the times we would hitchhike to local pools only to find they were closed because of the polio scare. They would show film of people in the Iron Lungs in the newsreels at movies and we were terrified.Trying to explain to my wife—from the other side of the Atlantic—the fear that was instilled in us in the early 1950s. Polio, iron lungs, leg braces, etc. Then I found my Polio Pioneer card. I was part of the first test group for the Salk polio vaccine. 1954.

Lol. I remember people used to get dressed up like it was Easter Morning to go shopping at G. Fox. I always felt Hartford could have really turned itself around economically if they would have turned it into a casino but the state was to dumb.rock and roll shows in Hartford-the old State Theater. During that era, did you watch Dick the Bruiser, Skull Murphy, the Zebra Kid, and the tag team, Fabulous Kangaroos? My Grandmother was the first one in the family to have a tv and on Saturday nights my five Aunts and Uncles and their kids would come down to her living room to watch Gorgeous George and Argentina Rocca wrestle.
I was in love with Cheryl. LOLCubby, Sharon, Bobby, Annette, Doreen, Jimmie, Roy, Lonnie, Cheryl
Hmmm, I pre-dated Dick Clark. Remember his predecessor, i.e. Bob Horn, who started bandstand. Got iun trouble for holding barn parties on the weekend. His license plate was said to be RU14, Dick Clark owes his job to Bob Horn. Catholic school girls had a lot of explaining to do to the Nun next day, when they were spotted on BandstandSome of you must have rushed home after school to watch the early years of Dick Clark and American Bandstand.
