Its the recency bias, but I would imagine Carolina will always be there as their hated rival.

FYI - with the bloated size of the ACC along with them only playing 18 conference games currently, we would alternate between 1 and 2. Mostly 1. UNC is designated as their "primary partner", and as such they play each other twice a year. This would only change if UNC leaves the conference some day (for the Big10?).

Either Syracuse or BC would most likely be designated as our "primary partner", and that is who we would be playing twice a year. It would not be Duke. As an aside, with that school up in Canada literally becoming largely irrelavant over the last decade, how much would they love to have us in a home and home on a yearly basis at this point? It would certainly help to pump some life into them... if that is even possible, at this point. They are getting desperate.

Here is the relevant explanation of current ACC in-conference scheduling for anyone who cares:
"Starting with the 2025-26 season, the ACC uses an 18-game conference basketball schedule. Teams play one permanent primary partner (home and away), one rotating variable partner (home and away), and one game against 14 of the remaining 15 teams. The schedule runs from late December to early March, designed to balance rivalry games with improved non-conference flexibility."
 
The only thing that comes to mind when I think of Duke is the Eddie Murphy movie. I cant even remember the name of that movie.

Carolina fans love us. Funny story. The day after we beat Duke in 1999 my flight had a layover in Raleigh. I got off the plane decked out in my UConn gear expecting to talk lots of smack. Instead we were greeted with high fives, fist bumps, smiles, hugs and words of appreciation and congratulations. That’s when I found out the people that live in North Carolina hate Duke. It was like a party!

You want to know some funny/crazy facts as it relates to Duke and our old BE rivals?

We have only played Duke once in the past 10 years, and we are now 1-0 against them. Remember our old Big East brethren who abandoned UConn and the Big East to join the ACC to "compete" with Duke? Well we have as many wins over Duke in the past 10 years as each of those other teams despite them competing in their conference and us only facing Duke once. Here are their recent histories:

Syracuse : Has only 1 win in the past 10 years against Duke. They have lost their last 11 straight games against Duke and have not beat them since '18-'19.

Boston College : Has only 1 win in the past 15 years against Duke. They have lost their last 11 straight games against Duke and have not beat them since '17-'18.

Notre Dame : Has only 1 win in the past 10 years against Duke. They have lost their last 6 straight games against Duke and have not beaten them since '20-'21.

In the past 5 years, those three teams are a combined 0-19 against Duke. In the past 10 years, those three teams are a combined 3-35 against Duke.

That is insanity. Think Duke (and the ACC) regrets taking on the old BE dead weight programs? Or was it exactly what they wanted and they have their patsy's as they planned? Meanwhile, they get dominated when it matters against UConn. Gotta love it! 😀

dude I am right there with you. I was thinking, did Mullins heal me? Should I carry this anger going forward? Are we not even now????? All questions for which I have no answer right now.....LOL

Seems clear to me that we are either #1b or #2. But UNC is and will always be #1a.

I dont think its even remotely close. We may be 2 but there is a huge canyon between us and UNC. We are alot closer to UVA than UNC in terms of how much Duke fans think about us

Keep in mind these things are generational. Younger UConn fans probably don't hate Duke as much as those of us whose hearts were ripped out by Laettner hate Duke. And younger Duke fans have seen UConn rip their hearts out repeatedly. I did say that UConn will never equal UNC but that canyon is getting smaller and smaller.

Totally disagree re UVA.

We dont play them enough once per decade in the tournament. They caused us decades worth of pain in 90. And we caused them a century worth of pain in 99 04 26. Just think about those 4 games and how they could not have been more dramatic.
 
Duke and Kentucky have had dozens of top 10 guys the last few decades. Uconn has had Drummond, Charlie V. Castle was borderline as well.
