We've faced Duke in the tournament six times, sweet 16 once; elite eight three times; national semifinals once; national finals once. The winners of the matchups that were not in the elite eight each went on to win the national title. The winners of the elite eight matchups each lost in the national championship game.

That is insanity. Think Duke (and the ACC) regrets taking on the old BE dead weight programs? Or was it exactly what they wanted and they have their patsy's as they planned? Meanwhile, they get dominated when it matters against UConn. Gotta love it! 😀

fwiw, Pitt is 3-13 vs Duke since joining ACC in 2014.

They don't dislike us as much, neither does UNC, mainly because they like us being a thorn in Duke's side. Enemy of my enemy and all that.

That's how it was for me in St. Petersburg at the Holiday Inn. The fans of Michigan State and Ohio State were celebrating UConn's title win and were thrilled Duke did not win it.
 
puke and unc are arch enemies. but the pukies fear the Huskies more than anyone else at this point. and to think the powers that be could have had annual games for the past 15-20 years and still haven't pulled the trigger.

I check out other message boards and they are all talking about UConn and Dan Hurely. except bcu. they are so broken they don't even think Luke Murray will save them.
 
It's a different kind of hatred - their hate for UNC is tradition, like a birthright. Their hate of Uconn seems to have more vitriol, much of it because of Hurley.

No one likes us. Most respect. I'd say PC is a fanbase that may secretly pull for us given Hurley's love of RI and because they have nothing else to pull for.

The effect of the Mullins shot for me is I’ve gone from outright hating them to viewing them as pathetic and sad. More money, talent, and hype than any program could ask for and yet since JS came onboard they haven’t won any postseason games they weren’t supposed to and have choked away multiple games that they were- NC State (twice), Houston, UConn. Go back to K’s final season and you’ve got the epic UNC pratfalls. A legacy of coming up short with the best roster on paper almost every season. I guess they can hang more banners for having the most 5-star recruits.

No. In fact I don't think we even register on their disrespect radar screen. Which is fine. We will just keep kicking their @ss and destroying their dreams until such time as they wake up and smell the burning tobacco leaves.
 
In DC a UConn fan who was wearing one of those t shirts with a net and scissors at the top told me after the game he was catching grief from Duke fans for wearing said shirt (maybe halftime?) First, we got 6 and they got 5 so they can STFU all the way 'round. then the game ended the way it did. get khamenia and Duke will be rooting for North Carolina to beat us in football at the Rent in November (those few who care about football, that is)
 
Let's rub it in.

With Hurley's comments on our incredible schedule for next year...what are the chances we finally get a true home-and-home scheduled with Duke starting next year?

Next year we can give Demary a senior homecoming game, make Cayden Boozer watch Mullins go 8-10 from behind the arc and score 35, see Khamenia start and get a double-double at Cameron, and beat the Dukies in a last second win front of their whiney Cameron Crazies.

Then in the following year we blow the doors off the poor Dukies at Gampel in a National Showcase game.

Let's make it happen!

True, however they’re usually the first to claim we’re not a blue blood because we’ve been catching them the quickest.

I'd go Duke - Kentucky would be loathesome in their celebration. I like them squirming. It's a spoiled & classless fan base. Think St John's of Appalachia.
 
I have a few goals with no specific (beyond the time it takes us to get there) order:

That everyone who is behind us (all but UCLA, Kentucky, UNC) remains behind us.

That we beat UNC to #7, then the first item also applies to them.

That we beat Kentucky to #9, then the first item applies to them.

That we beat UCLA to #12, then the first items applies to EVERYONE!

more like "everyone loves us" ... I live in Florida now, when walking in the hood (random people honking their horns, yelling Go Huskies!), or traveling (interacting with flight attendants, fans & foes), everyone loves/respects/admires us, and they make it known, loudly

I understand that the underdog thing (us against the world) is a popular rallying cry, but it simply is not true, coast to coast AND internationally

We annoy them, but they do not think our program is on par with theirs, despite the evidence.
 
Interesting that the name Hurley was responsible for a lot of Dukes success and now the name Hurley will be a source of terror.
 
As we should be. Conference and in-state rivalries are wonderful things. But playing over and over again in the biggest games in the history of the sport is the definition of a rival.

Is BC a MBB rivalry, no we beat them 20 plus times in a row. Any rivalry is based on CR though FB and their C7 status. That trumps forced conference matchup by a margin that would be familiar to the lonely BC fan. No, Luke coaching them does not add to it, unless he beats Hurley in the NCAA.

Cuse? This is a better argument mostly though the JC > JB and 6>1, roads. The 6 OT game and other BET and regular season championship make/made it a true rivalry as did the proximity of both our first NCAA titles, and UConn's 2nd. Obviously, we are no longer rivals on the court.

So from Duke's perspective, one you put aside the geography and historical ACC chest thumping, UConn has surpassed Duke as the premier program and since 1999 has denied them a legit shot at 3 national titles (99, 04, 26). Why wouldn't we be at the top of their hate list? Especially since UNC (and the rest of the ACC) has hit the relative skids.

People hated Duke because they won and had an abrasive (ratfaced) coach. We should both expect and demand that same treatment as a sign of respect.

Arrogant and Spoiled since 1999.
